I've been casually trying to assemble a complete set of the Ducati Service VHS training videos from 2001. A few came up on eBay and I bought them. Seller only had 5 and they were a combination of mostly Italian with an English and a German mixed in there. Does anyone know how many were released in 2001 for the new Testastretta? As in how many make up a complete set? If anyone has a list of all the P/N for the entire series that would be amazing! 2001 were all 1st editions, of course, with half being dated 10/2001 and the rest being dated 12/2001 it seems. **UPDATE: After scraping a few online DBs, I've come up with this complete list. Ha, I used to. Maybe if I can accumulate this entire set, I'll see what I can do to make that happen again Makes sense to have a digital copy for archival/historical purposes since VHS does deteriorate. It's a good thing must capture cards are PAL+NTSC and I'm sure buying a near-new PAL VCR on eBay won't be an issue. Not my primary goal tho, and I'm not going to open ones that are still new and sealed.
I compiled a master list and added it to the first post for everyone. I also have this CD which says it has the training courses on it, but since my copy is sealed and still in the sealed Ducati bag, I haven't opened it to check what it has. Has anyone else?
Ok, I can confirm that CD does NOT have anything for the 998 Testa engine on it for training. I found a picture of it open online with the courses on the left, pic below. I wonder if there is a MY 2002 version of it for all of the same 998 Testa specific training as on these VHS tapes?
So I purchased a 2nd 2001 Technical Training Courses CD (since my other is still sealed) to verify exactly what's on it. I can confirm it's technical data only, not anything related to service training. Which is about what I expected given the VHS tape set, nomenclatures, etc. However I was surprised that the CD case didn't mention the R variant or Testastretta data being included, so I'm glad I checked because it was a gold mine. No more need for me to have the 2002 CD. So back to the VHS tapes this thread is for. I will need to buy a VCR and a capture card, or send them off to a local shop that digitizes. The other matter is that I'll need to collect a whole set in English to make it worth the effort to digitize and share.
I appreciate that! I'll keep that in my back pocket and reach out to you about it. In the past, I've always had better luck quality-wise with an internal PCI/X capture card. But in 2024, all I own are laptops lol. So USB it is
