V4 V4 Rear Wheel Bearing

  1. The rear wheel bearing on my V4s sport has just disintegrated. Happened on way back from a 750 mile trip to York and back, bike has only done 11900miles. Has any one else had a wheel bearing fail this early? It will be repaired under warranty, but that's not the point. Ducati said they were surprised it has failed with that milage.

  2. Has it been pressure washed in that area?

  3. The seals fitted to the wheel will hold water this then rusts the seals inner spring creating a rusty paste. This sits against the bearings & gets past the bearings seals as they rotate turning them into rusty mush. Mine were crunchy after a few thousand miles, I think the outer seals need to be greased on the inside to delay this but suspect loads were fitted dry. I never pressure washed my multi V4 & never used a hose against the wheel bearing area.

  4. I do, but it just a quick hose over, I e do e it with all the bikes I've owned and never had a problem before.
