Talking to a friend with a V4S and we got to the topic of tyre width. My 1260 is default 190 on the rear and I understand the V4 is 170. Is it possible to fit a wider tyre and if so, to what size? Additionally, can the rear wheel be upgraded to a wider profile? The clearence between the tyre and swingarm looks as though there is plenty of room as standard.
Can I ask why you want a wider tyre? Without teaching granny to suck eggs, there are many factors affecting the width of tyres that manufacturers put on their bikes and changing them to wider ones won’t necessarily improve grip, and can sometimes even reduce grip. Apologies if this is stuff you already know, just wondering why the change is wanted. I know sometimes people change as the availability is much better in some width/ profile combinations. Used to be common to dump the front wheel from fire blades to get away from the 16” as choice was limited.
I second that question ^^^: The 1260 is a different bike than the V4. There's a reason why Ducati engineers put that size of tire on the bike.
I think someone fitted a 190 to the rear of his V4 on aftermarket wheels (17 fr & r) . They posted about it on Ducati.ms
