Sorry if this one has been raised (or lowered) before, but is there a side stand solution for getting the bike to lean at a better/safer angle than the stock side stand? I've always used a block of wood underneath the stand itself, but that's not always practical when out on a ride. Did Ducati or anyone else manufacture a slightly longer stand, which could be straight-swapped for the stock item?
If you can find a decent example of the OE side stand, you should be able to extend it yourself. I have limited practice these days with cut ‘n shut modifications but managed to modify a Monster side stand with a threaded bar, course thread tap and a small Mig welder. The Monster side stand was hollow though so not a complicated fix. Andy
I had this on my 1000SS. I ended up with an ST4 Sidestand which is the same as an M1000 one: https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/1000ss-sidestand.86835/ The bike has many other mods, but none that should effect the lean of the stand: https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/1000ssie-ds-900sl-hybrid.84101/
I used the longer aluminum one. I thought it was for a Monster, but don't recall exactly right now. I did the swap many years ago.
I used shim washers to pack the plastic washers between the stand and the pivot bolt to reduce the slop. This makes the stand feel much more secure. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/224326415431?var=523117972269
if remember rightly the stand for the I.E model is slightly longer but check this as memory a bit fuzzy lol the stand that was on my I.E when I got it had the pad cut off so just like a stiletto heel lovely on grass doh so got a replacement standard item but the bike know sits very upright it is little unsettling at times
