1299 Vertical Map Sensor

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by Leeb5, Sep 18, 2024.

  1. I know it's probably been covered before. But have had the EML light come on, had the fault diagnosed by my local mechanic and it's the vertical map sensor. Rang Ducati and it's £90!

Obviously there are some online for £15, but I'm confused at to what is the correct one, does anyone know the part number? Are there more than 1 sensor? Has anyone used the cheaper parts?

    Thanks

  2. I’ve used the cheaper ones on my 899 and so far so good , been on well over a year

  3. Is this the correct part number 55241571A? The fault says vertical MAP sensor, but this part number relates to air pressure sensor.

  4. There are 2 Map sensors one for each cylinders and that part number looks correct. Map stands for manifold absolute pressure or something like that (someone will correct me I’m sure) so it is an air pressure sensor.
Should look like this and they are both located on the left side of the bike.

  6. The cheap ones work ok. I have one on mine from ebay (£17) and I have a spare (for trackdays). Theyre located by left knee inside the black plastic things where ecu and coils are. Relatively quick easy swap.

  7. One went on my mates 1199. Easy to replace. He bought an o/e one and did it himself.

  8. Just note when you change it that the one at the rear is actually for the horizontal cylinder and the one at the front is for the vertical cylinder - although you may be lucky and have them marked which is which.

I’ve used these to good effect in the past.
