So as above - im fitting rearsets to the hyper - theyre on and fitted....problem ive got is the first mount point...on the actual gear change spline as you can see the bolts goes in from the left....is there a ducati bike - or any bike where the bolt goes in from the right? if i can put one in from the right then i can make it more vertical so ill get a better gear change....does that make sense?? if i mount the gear change vertical then i cant get the bolt in.
Can you not put the bike in top gear. Remove the splined fitting and replace it in the position in your photo. Then when you change down it will be in a more vertical position.
Not sure what you mean....with it originally it was facing upwards but i couldnt get the gear change to work atall...when switched it round so it was below - it works and its ok but the upshift is a bit more effort whereas downshift is ok...
You have the angle of the drop lever wrong in relation to the link rod! It wants to be 90 degrees for ease of use. Probably need to shorten the link rod
Yep...yer missing the point....if I put the drop lever vertical I can't get the bolt in...hence being able to put it in from the other side...
Nope… take it off put the lever in the correct place line it up with the cut out, and then push the lever as if you are changing gear to get the bolt in ♂️
I reckon that gear lever part on the spline is meant to be the other way around, rotated 180deg around the nearly vertical axis so that the back side of it is then facing outward. This would then mean the clamp bolt can be inserted from the right (as you say, but is really from the rear).
on my 1299 it goes in from right, (from memory at 8am zzz) Have you tried turning the thing round so it goes in from right?
Dont think so....not sure on the accuracy of my 10 quid verniers but it registered the stack height as 36.5mm so i added an extra plate from the new pack top replace the last outer one. Also bought some new springs (they were about 3mm or so higher than the old ones) so might have been worn. When i went out the other night to test i think ive cured the slipping problem (held it open in top and it didnt slip)
I should have added the original setup pic in....with the arm facing up i could obviously put the bolt in - this was the original config - the oem mount point of the bar on the oem gear lever was above - the rearset was below so it meant the shift bar was doing a "diagonal" to the gear arm....with it like that there was no travel atall...
Your right...it is supposed to be the other way round....but the gear change doesnt work atall...this is due to the mount point (gear lever side) being below...
Just looked - yep - i think your right - gonna take a punt and order one... hopefully the spline/bear will be the right size!!
Why are you ordering a new one? You have one already, you just need to “twizzle” it around and the bolt will be on the right.
