I’m still looking for the illusive WP glove that’s not winter or summer. Spring or autumn would be a better description, must have bonded liners. Rukka aren’t what they used to be. I wear Klim in the summer, BKS m2m short gloves when there’s no chance of rain the rest of the year I’m going to try Klim, so will be visiting Rugged Roads at Sway in the New Forest, that is unless someone has a better suggestion.
Bought a pair of Richa Atlantic GoreTex gloves yesterday. My Helds are over 8 years old and, despite being pretty good still, don't appear to be waterproof in sustained heavy rain. The Richas will be going back as I've discovered that there's a fold of fabric at the end of the index finger of one hand that's going to annoy the crap out of me. Tried on the Klim Badlands, I think that's what they're called, at the time and though they felt really good. However, £140 vs £270 meant I went for the Richas... might change my mind when I take them back tomorrow EDIT: Just read that the Badlands has thermal lining, so that's them out of the equation.
I got a pair of Klim adventure gtx earlier this year. Have been out in torrential rain for hours and they've let nowt in. Not lined so 3 season glove max if you have heated grips to back them up.
That's what I have already, albeit 8 years old and in black. Damnned good glove I have to say. Thought Held no longer made/sold them so thanks for that. Bugger, just noticed the big red panel that says discontinued
Yes, they are brilliant gloves… they may still be available if you shop around https://www.modulemoto.co.uk/held-gloves/held-race-tex-gore-tex-glove-black.html
Note on Klim glove sizing. Ime they often feel like the fingers are a bit short if sized for across the palm. Maybe I have slim hands but long fingers , so I usually need XL in Klim gloves. Still like them & Held as my preferred gloves .
Held air n dry are the best I’ve ever owned. Three season but 2 gloves in one. Gore tex and then a perforated slot for warm weather. No gloves are waterproof. They all let water in eventually. I use thin plastic or rubber gloves in winter.
Halvarssons Burtop for me this time around,go up a size though.I am a size 10 everyday of the week but 11 in this model ,hence try before you buy is good advice.
I have these as well as the Held Race Tex GTX. Infact they are currently being put to good test as my only pair on my trip to Spain/Portugal… great versatility, my only issue is that the Gore-Tex seems to delaminate quite quickly and they become a faff to squeeze on/off when hands are wet/hot.
I always tour with two pairs of gloves. Plus some silk inners, for unexpected cold, that 'live' in the tank bag all the time. One pair of Goretex unlined gloves with a cuff as well a pair of decent short vented gloves. The Goretex ones only come out of its raining or if temperatures dictate the need. Have seen the Held Air&Dry on the Web but must admit not in the flesh. Would like to try them on.
Two! I have at least four! Two waterproof Summer gloves One mesh glove Rukka Arium (most comfortable ones)
As said "tour with two pairs". My girlfriend thinks I have a glove fetish, I have a whole drawer full of them...
I always tour with 2 pairs of gloves except this year when I needed them, had to call in at a bike shop and buy some
I’ve got several pairs of gloves too but the Held Air n’ Dry’s are essentially 2 or 3 pairs in one, and worked well as my only pair on trip to Germany and Spa last year so figured I’d take them again down to Picos/Luga/Chaves/Braga. Have been brilliant in torrential rain, 4 degree and 24 degree temps. Just wish they were a little easier to get on when it’s hot or wet. On another note did the ZA-925 north of Braganca today on way up to Picos… what a road!
How about Touratech Guardo Ultimate gloves? I agree with you about Rukka’s decline. I’ve had some Klim and many Held gloves. Despite being an unashamed Held fanboy, the Touratech Guardo Ultimate is the best non-thermal glove I’ve found with Gore Grip. It has a scaphoid slider and visor wipe, copious comfort, and beautiful build quality.
I have these, didn't let any water in during the 4 days of heavy rain while doing the NC500, not thick on palm on fingers so you can feel the grips, work really well with heated grips as they still let he heat get to your fingers. Also have a reasonably thin cuff so it's easier to get them under the sleeve of a jacket. Richa Street Touring Gore-Tex Gloves - Black - FREE UK DELIVERY (sportsbikeshop.co.uk)
