Nope I didn't miss it. If you mean advice for anyone that wants to own an RS then I agree its something to consider. Personally, a desmo service every 15000 miles isn't an issue to me as I have never kept a bike that long and wouldn't break the bank even if I did.
No need to bother , Silverstone / Mugello (long straight) = RS , Sachsenring / Misano (short straight) = RS / PP , Knockhill (offroad)= V4S in enduro mode (disclaimer , data may be inaccurate)
You're right about one thing, nobody will bother with a track shootout. No career respecting moto-journalist will dare expose the potential that the latest may not always be the greatest.
i wouldnt mind seeing the esitimated mph against those figures to get a feel for the actual 'useability' of each model. The best formula I can find is times the bhp by 0.78 to give mph. I know theres a lot of variables in there such as weight , exhaust etc etc but its just a estimate.
Although we have seen the torque curves for both the V2 1260 Testastretta and the Granturismo engine, we have yet to see it for the RS. Could be revealing, n'est-ce pas?
For 'real world' riding, on our roads, the V2 looks great but, the high RPM hit of the RS must be pretty epic on a 'sports tourer'.
I find the gearing on the RS to be much more user friendly in towns than the 1260 however. Doing the same speed, the higher RPM's on the RS mean your sitting on about the same power as the 1260 produces and with more flexibility to close/open as you need to. So I can't say I've noticed a lack of anything. Sadly when switching between them, the 1260 is feeling heavy and soft in comparison now.
V2 still rocks where the vast majority of us spend our time riding, doesn't guzzle as much juice either.
That shootout I was told will happen. M1000XR vs Multi RS. Weight and power advantage will go the Beemer... assuming the engine doesn't blow up.
Imho the difference that makes people (like me) prefer the multi is it’s torque and, more importantly, the skyhook is several levels above anything bmw has (ime)
