Completey Motorbikes Gone Into Administration

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by cookster, Oct 4, 2024.

  1. Hope no one has a sale pending, people outside waiting for cars and bikes to be picked up, gates lock and police there.

Thought they got to big to soon.

  2. Got my Hypermotard SP from there. They were *generous* with their pricing, to put it mildly.

  3. Does *generous* mean you got a good trade in price or a good priced bike or what? Sorry I'm confused and your comment might mean anything!

  4. Both, actually! Best part-ex by far, and collection/delivery FoC!

  5. Yes I've had good dealings with them in the past , but found after sales was very poor

  6. that makes it sad then, just look where generosity got them. It's a rare alternative to the majority of traders who appear to "close ranks"/stick to their guns and hope that the punter will finally cave-in and cough up for "the going rate".

  8. Just purchased a new ZX6R from them in Yeovil.
Bike was for my wife and they treated her like a rockstar. Brilliant staff…

  9. They weren't at BSB with lots of bikes as usual, probably explains why, shame.

  12. Big shame, I always liked dealing with them, had no complaints at all with their service.

  13. Cars too I guess. Wonder what the franchise network will do. Wouldn’t be surprised if they split and have management buyouts all over the place and dump the debts.

I tried to buy from them several times…like most things in life, depends on the local supplier with national companies. Ours (mine and Cookies) we poor.

  14. I was wondering why they were taking over dealerships left/right/centre when we’ve been heading into a recession for a few years now. Seemed a bit risky to me but WDIK?

  15. Theres a local piece from couple of years ago about how the family went from zero to millions. They will have made their money: it’s the staff, debtors and customers who lose out

  16. That's a shame. My local branch was an MV Dealer but out of a different showroom. Had an eye on a Pikes Peak they were selling but went with the one from Riders (Bridgwater) as it had the luggage.

  17. I’m fairly local. It’s a carbon copy of what happened with George Whites, got big so fast, flashy BSB sponsorship etc then bang, all gone tits up.

ive been there a few times recently on Saturdays and its been dead, wanted to look in the MV showroom but can’t go in as it’s locked and have to ask them to unlock it

  18. I just went down to Completely in Staverton to take a look. Both sites shuttered with a piece of A4 stuck on the outside saying “sorry we’re closed for a stock take”. I assume that’s BS.

  19. yeah sounds like BS, speaking to a mate in the industry, it’s definitely gone pop and it’s going to be a poop storm

  20. Easy to be wise in hindsight, but presumably when buying a new bike it’s best to pay a deposit on a credit card and on the day of exchange, get to the dealer, make sure everything is in order and make the balance transfer?

Or is there a simpler way of protecting yourself against dealers going into administration?
