So having somehow just bought an Italian electric Superbike, sadly I’m debating if the 1198S has to go to make room. 2009 bike with 17k miles on her. Major service done last summer (I’ll dig the book out and confirm exact details) Akrapovic end cans and custom mapping (comes with the baffles as well) Carbon tank infills Carbon fairing infills Carbon front mudguard Carbon rear mudguard Carbon lower fairing / belly pan Carbon exhaust heat shield Carbon heel plates JHP billet ergal pressure plate Ducati Performance clutch cover New Pro grip grips Titanium caliper bolts Lightech bar end weights Factory Racing Red Clutch Slave Cylinder New tyres only done a couple of hundred miles Good marchesini wheels (as standard) Ohlins front and back (as standard) Ohlins damper (as standard) Paddock stand NOT Included I’m afraid. (Need it for the V4) she is 15 years old so does have a couple of marks here and there. Most notable is the ‘repaired’ crack on the nose fairing, the paint has worn off the swingarm where the heel plate has touched it. And the ‘carbon’ on the mirrors I don’t believe is actual carbon but a carbon look cover (came on the bike) MOT expires this month but will come with 12 month MOT. HPI clear Now for sale with MotoHub - £9,995. Will accept £9k
Cheers pal. I didn’t know if talking about it on here would be frowned upon I know a lot of folk aren’t ready for EV motorbikes yet. Having ridden it 800km back from Germany the last 2 days i can say it’s an incredible machine, heavy and can be annoying to charge when it’s raining and no shelter but 0-60 in 2.6 seconds allegedly, 215nm of torque, 175bhp (equivalent). I’m not an eco warrior, I just love the technology and wanted to try an electric motorbike… so after a couple of years of searching I finally found the Energica Ego RS + for me plan is to track it and see what it can do… see how many proper bikes I can annoy by overtaking them on an EV
Nice! So what is the real world range? Could you easily find charging stations? I presume you just bought it in Germany? Kudos for a brave trip back!
Yeah bought it from a dealers over there, it was my first time riding an EV, first time riding in Europe and probably the longest I’ve ever ridden on a bike. 800km through North Germany, Holland then from Harwich back to Yorkshire and I stopped 8 times, 4 over there, 4 over here. Although not always 20%-80% if that makes sense. Cost about £8ish stop on average. Motorway miles aren’t the most economic way to travel on an EV as there’s no regen at the constant speed. Furthest I got on a 90% charge was 155km which was a bit of cruise control at 89kmh. Think I got to the charger with 18% left. If you tank it and have fun probably 80km/90km and you’ll need a charge. plenty of chargers about, loads in Germany and Holland, the UK doesn’t have as good a network yet but I’m sure that’ll improve in time. Just takes a bit more planning in the UK. Germany and Holland I didn’t have to google a stop as almost all the services have charging points over there. Having said that I wouldn’t recommend touring on the Ego get a multistrada

Stick something up on here about it mate with pics. Bikes, if they can deal with the weight and get charging down to 20 min, are doable imho as most can’t do more than 100miles on a ta k anyway
When you’re riding it, you don’t really notice the weight, didn’t stop me getting the elbow down shot at donny when I tried it on track @El Toro would it be possible to put a little piece up on my thoughts on the Energica Ego RS somewhere on the site? Appreciate it’s not a Ducati, but it’s from Modena and it’s red if so, where is best to do it?
Only one mate, from donington park. in a nutshell, bike was on old firmware, couldn’t put enough power back into the battery with the charger I had with me between sessions so the bike would try to save its battery by going into a wet mode type power delivery. So after a couple of laps, the power dropped. with a better charger and now on the newer firmware I think it would be different… have to wait till next year now to find out.
That’ll be the perfect place. I did look earlier but think I focused too much on the machines section cheers.
i'm sure you've thought of it, so i'm guessing that it's a total pain to consider swapping batteries instead of fast-charging the one fitted?
yeah, as some mates suggested be easier to just get 2 and have one charging while you take one out and vise versa… and in fairness you could probably get another bike for almost the same cost as a new battery. my charging issues were a little self inflicted. I didn’t have the adaptors to tap into doningtons higher ampage outlets. But I have an array of them now so hopefully try it again next year. Gives me the winter to make a battery cooling duct like the MotoE bikes & MotoAmerica SuperHooligan bike have to give the batteries some extra cooling
you might want to hold on to that 1198S and get rid of the Energica. The company is headed for bankruptcy and probably will cease to exist soon.
