I need new tyres for my V4S and have been trying to find Metzeler Roadtec S02, but they don't seem to be in stock anywhere. I've had the more sporty M9RR on my previous V2S before ... but unsurprisingly they didn't last long. Has anyone seen Roadtec S02 in stock ?
I wasn't that impressed but it might be down to the extra weight of my V4 Pikes Peak. I have a part worn pair with less 1000 miles if you want to try them. Andy
@Ian_H I just got a rear replacement tyre for next season. I'll get into that in a moment. More to your thread topic, my tyre dealer said in passing that Pirelli rotates its production in cycles. Sometimes they're not available for months. Since Metzeler is a sister company, it may be the same. I picked up an Angel GT to match my front tyre which is still passable. I may change it as well. It's also a good time to buy, (at least here in Canada) as the prices are going up significantly in January 2025. About the GT: they lasted more than 12,000 kms and are still fine to end this year's riding season. They're not even squared-up although I should not be surprised as I don't tour. I only ride very twisty 50~80kph posted limit back roads (with lots of 90 degree stuff). I was also concerned that the GT's would no longer be in production since superseded by the GT2 but that's not the case. My new Angel GT is dated 2024. I was told that the GT and GT2 are not for the same purpose. The GT is more for dry tarmac whereas the GT2 is more of an all-weather sport touring tyre. Had the GT no longer been in production, my next goto was going to also be a Metzeler as yourself but it's going to be the ROADTECâ„¢ 01 SE.
I think it was about 4000 miles. Rear got properly squared off - but that was after riding 2 up for 1800 mile tour. Not sure they were made for that.
I was told very recently that the Roadtec 02 have not passed the German TUV yet so nothing in Europe being made.
I would double check that ... they are available in the UK .. just not in the size that fits the V4S ...
Each size/vehicle application has its own TUV approval I believe. These are GS sizes too. This is info i was given from Two Tyres.
