748 748 Headlight Conversion Hid/led

  1. Hello. Ive recently bought a 748S and have had the misfortune of being caught out in the dark twice with it now. The standard headlights on it are pretty awful with me missing seeing a pothole on the dual carriageway last night and hitting it sending me into a wobble. Anyway nothing came of it thankfully with the bike righted itself.
Was just wondering if anyone has any advice on upgrading the headlights to HID or LED? I have searched on this and other forums but a lot of the stuff seems like old info. I can't find anything online that I'm confident would work.
If anyone has already done this and can pass on info on what's involved, make/ model of lights etc that would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

    Den

  2. I've upgraded my monster to LED bulbs. It was pretty straight forward. I needed a h7 and a H1 bulb and they couldn't be longer than the standard halogen type bulbs. The bulbs with the highest lumen numbers all have fans built in and are often longer than standard. I ended up using Zethors bulbs available on Amazon which fitted my requirements. One of them, H1 I think, needed an adapter loom for grounding it but that was easily made.
The dipped beam is much much better but doesn't appear to be blinding oncoming traffic. The main is probably visible from Space.

Here's a link, perhaps it helps.

  3. Cheers mate. Im not very technically minded with this stuff but I think I read somewhere about LEDs need to be reflected outwards as a pose to projection? Not sure if that means there being a reflective headlight housing, mine doesn't have that so I'm not sure which would work best.
I'll have a look at that link though. Thanks again.
