Hello Everyone, should I?

  1. Hi, after a few years away from riding I'm back. Bought a KTM Duke 6 months ago and, well, I'm bored. Was trying to be sensible but just seen a perfect 748. Absolutely mint. So do I get the bike I've lusted after for so many years? Heart says YES, head says it's a 14 year old superbike and really not sensible. So, can I use the 748 to commute 20miles a day and then have major fun at the weekends?

Go on convince me because I know I want it!

  2. You will have plenty saying no no no you can't comute that distance daily as it won't have time to warm up. For what its worth I think that's rubbish, buy it, ride it and enjoy it. Keep it well maintained and all should be well.

  3. how do and yes.

  4. The regret of no will be bigger than the regret of yes

In other words go for it

  5. Those are wise words IMO.

I don't think 14 years old equates to problems if the maintenance was done regularly and it's in good nick. There must be loads of people on here who are regularly buying 14 year old bikes. My 999 is now 7 years old, but I always think of it as nearly new. Well, it was a few years ago...

  6. Imagine, if you will, a date with a supermodel.

You take her out, wine her and dine her, then perhaps the theatre or a show. All goes well.

You call her again and ask to take her out to dinner. She accepts. A nice evening.

During dinner for the third time she all of a sudden comes over a little queasy makes her excuses and leaves via the nearest exit.

When you phone her again you get the disconnected tone ................

Hello and welcome to the mad house

  12. Welcome to the forum.
Go For It !! - 20 miles to warm up - no problem - Dukes run quite hot anyway
    Enjoy the weekend rides

  13. Welcome, I love a bit of Major fun every weekend

    Go for it matey!

  14. Hello and welcome! You have the itch so scratch it!

  15. I'd had every bike going apart from a Ducati until a few years ago mate...a friend of mine is Ducati obsessed, does lots of promo stuff for them & his sister is the PA for the head of Ducati UK. He'd been on & on at me for a lifetime to buy one so in the end I did...I can honestly say nothing comes close to putting a grin on my face like they do, so much so that 1 resides in my kitchen! Go for it, you'll never look back...plus it's "a Ducati", which by it's very nature means you have taste & style! Simples!!

  16. Hello and welcome

  17. Get a (05 red frame/facelift) 749 or maybe 999 for same money as 748. More comfortable. Newer. More reliable.

  18. Update: deal done, all being well pick her up on Saturday . Very 'appy!

  19. My 748 is 14 too, and it's me, not the bike that stops any thought of commuting, basically as my old wrists and legs (back/neck/ankles and brain) won't stand the strain
