Great Britain will compete for the America's Cup for the first time since 1964 after beating Italy 7-4 in a qualifying event in Barcelona. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/sailing/articles/cqxrq8yeq4yo The team, skippered by four-time Olympic champion Sir Ben Ainslie, have been heavily backed by British billionaire and Manchester United minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe. "It's a massive day for our team," Ainslie said on the America's Cup live broadcast. Speaking exclusively to BBC sports editor Dan Roan in Barcelona, Ratcliffe said: "It's 60 years since we've been in this place.
Ben Ainslie -and Radcliffe's- agony as Britain’s 173 years of America’s Cup hurt goes on after 7-2 thrashing by New Zealand. Luckily for Ten Hag, Man Utd had a rare win so he won't have to bear the brunt of this...
Try it sometime. Its a lively and cultured city, right on a nice beachfront. Lots of things to see and do, easy access along the coast to other resorts via the train. The annual rainfall is less than 10% of the UK weekly downpour and the food is way better. Friendly people and Catalan women are often very attractive.
I may, however me mates Son lives there and doesn’t rate it any better than if he lived in inner city Birmingham or London other than the weather is better. He’s been mugged numerous times and believes if he wasn’t a quick runner he’d be dead.
Wow that doesn't sound good... I used to spend huge nights out there back in the 80s & early 90s. There was one club i particularly like that was a parked aeroplane outdoors, though there was a huge roof or tent giving shelter aswell. Inside the 'plane was a restaurant, the DJs were in the cockpit which was all opened out and seating, dancing & bars effectively where the runway would be. When you entered you were given a "boarding pass" and when you bought a drink or food the pass was put into a machine. When you left, the boarding pass went through the same machine and gave you a bill -I've never seen that anywhere else. Tapas bars, late night eateries, and people watching were beyond great all around Las Ramblas; which was also quite seedy with chocolate (hash) sold on most corners and no shortage of pavement Princessas... Plus all the big bands played at Camp Nou. Good times indeed. But much was irreconcilably changed by the clean up for the Olympics...
Many fond memories of Barcelona from when my daughter lived out there. Great city, food, wine, culture and people. Need to revisit.
Sorry to hear that mate, but I can believe it, I wouldn't go back to Barcelona if you paid me, when we were there misses had her phone and coat stolen from the restaurant, another couple we were with got mugged and had wallets and camera stolen. Shame as the place is lovely to look at.
