That would probably get you arrested these days with some charities run by those ‘new’ women (the ones with a cock and balls)
Got to love a Clyde Puffer, and the Vital Spark is the most famous. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vital_Spark To a boating guy like myself they not only represent an amazing piece of interesting history, but are actually drop dead gorgeous in their own way too. Not that any measure to their aesthetic appeal was given when they were designed.
Completely agree it’s a beautiful old tub, I’ve always had a thing for old working boats especially fishing boats and tugs.
Another of my favourite boats, The Superb Us, a trawler based in Dartmouth. I was lucky enough several times years ago to cadge a lift on her between Beesands and Dartmouth as the family that owned her lived at Beesands and we lived there all summer. Along with Clyde Puffers there is nothing as beautiful as a Canoe Stern Trawler, or ‘Double ender’ as some call them.
I tried to buy a canoe stern river boat years ago I absolutely love them! Look up Barnaby Rudge, it’s a boat I used to look after the paintwork on. Used to belong to Paul McCartney, lovely old historic ship. (It’s not the boat I tried to buy by the way just a lovely boat)
