Looking at getting a slip on for my 1260, ideally I’d go for an Akrapovic if money was no object, but unfortunately it’s not, so I’m going for a Termi, but I’m confused, different part numbers, but both look identical to me, same lengths etc Anyone have the answer ?
The part number of the first one comes up as 1200 only, the part number for the second one is 1260 only. Andy
The difference is possibly because of the heel plate fitted to the silncer itself. A Termi end can from a 2010+ Multi will also fit your cat box but the heel plate requires modding or you can buy a later DVT heel plate. I know this from taking off my 2010 Termi and modding the heel plate to fit my 1200 DVT '17 plate. I sold the Termi to a chap with a 1260.
I can't remember which models it applies to, but a couple of multistradas I have worked on required the after market can removing to get the rear wheel off. Just a heads up
Be aware that the vast majority, if not all, of the silencing is in the CAT which is retained. As the result don't expect a significantly more fruity exhaust note. OP changed post #1 so no longer relevant. Both of the Termi end cans shown should fit. First one is for the 1200, the other for the 1260, however, the fit is the same. Had the std silencer on my previous 1260s with the exhaust valve deactivated. My 1260 Pikes Peak has the Termi slip-on as standard, also with exhaust valve deactivated. I would say that it has a slightly nicer burble, though that might be subjective. In answer to the post above by @ducv2; both the std silencer and Termi slip-on need to be removed to get the rear wheel out. Not particularly hard or time consuming though.
Yep I’m aware of that, had an Arrow can & decat on my 1200 dvt , I know all the silencing is in the cows udder of a cat!..I’m looking to add a dominator mid pipe in the near future
Never worked on one with a standard can, can't believe it would be designed with a QR rear wheel and swingarm but you have to faff around removing bits to get the wheel off
If you got the Termi slip-on and later added a de-cat mid pipe the exhaust would essentially be with silencing and extremely loud. Probably be an MOT fail too.
True story that The noise quickly becomes a ballache. Tried it changed it back Bought a proper one , happy days. if you didn’t buy a proper one you would spend the money on less worthy shit , honest
