For me, laminated goretex in a jacket was a game-changer, for long-term reliable waterproofing and overnight reset to dry, and I wanted to know if that applied to winter gloves. What have you all year round riding lot bought, and how have they performed in extended use? Thanks.
Performance varies from brand to brand model to model. I tend not to do long rides in the depths of winter any more so only need short term levels of warmth if I venture out. I think most (all) will fulfill the water proofing ask but warmth will be a compromise (for non heated gloves) between bulk / ease of use. My most comfy are my now very old Rukka Mars gloves , I also recently got a pair of Held quattrotempi gloves but they are a bit more cumbersome & possibly not as warm as the old Rukkas. A major issue as with all lined gloves used in the wet is avoiding liner pull out, which usually happens taking them off after putting gloves on with wet hands or when you have sweaty hands etc. some are better than others but after time even the best gloves can suffer from it & it’s a PITA if in the middle of a ride/journey.
I have a decent Dainese gortex gloves but find them very bulky after my Alpinestars GP1’s so I bought heated grips and try to avoid rain…
That is the penalty with warm and dry gloves, loss of feel and restricted movement. I have a pair of Dainese winter gloves for the odd chilly/wet rde. Andy
