True, but at least they’re reliable now. I don’t spend half my track day spannering, swearing and grunting… (esp getting up)…
I'm not sold on the electric car even though the manufacturers are pushing them into people and especially on pcp deals and finance ect ect, there ok when under warranty and get fixed for free but they are a nightmare when bought 2nd hand. Friend of mine runs a garage specialising in eV cars and said he's got about 30 cars parked in car park as the batteries need replacing but are way way to expensive to replace by the average customer and the scrap yards won't take electric vehicles.
My nephew works at the local Porsche main dealer , I was considering treating myself to a new Boxster last year. He went on to tell me to buy one before they went EV or hybrid. The EV and hybrids in the current line up have been nothing but trouble.
I was just about to buy an F-Pace. I found a stunner at a main dealer that was just a couple of years old (petrol) and very low mileage. I was so, so close to clicking the buy button but held off for some reason. Now I know why, so it'll be either an X3 M-sport, or a Merc GLC I guess. If Faguar do not want their current demographic any more, I do not want them. They will be out of business inside of 5 years anyway.
This tells you all you need to know. It’s Jaguar’s brand director (wearing a sequinned jacket and a mesh shirt, no less) engaging in several minutes of virtue signalling which sounds like it was generated by Chat GPT, about their 15 different DEI groups (including “Pride” and “Transitioning At Work”) and how wonderful it is that Jaguar are allowing LGBTQIA++ people to be “their authentic selves”. You dont need to be a marketing genius to work out that blue-haired pronoun people don’t buy Jags. In fact, they don’t buy cars full stop, because they live in urban areas and only ever use bicycles or public transport. Jags are driven by men named Derek who play golf and drink G&Ts while holding forth about how “Enoch was right”. I’m kidding (well only sort of), but I think this misstep will be JLR’s ‘Bud Light’ moment.
But will you still be able to fit a set of golf clubs and a sawn off shot gun in the boot? Only ever had a brief brush with Jaguar. An X Type, terrible car, gutless with a range of about 200 miles on a good day. Only good for pottering down to your local golf course, no good for a doing bank job, rozzers could probably run faster than it, or just wait till you run out of juice 2 miles down the road!
That reminds me of watching a well known America car blogger who gives advice on cars to his US audience - asked if the Jaguar "XYZ" was a good car - he replied that it was a great car - just take the engine out and throw it away, and put a Chevy V8 in it !
