Anyone With A Clue - Or Even Half A Clue?

  1. This is just me wasting my time and with me trying to think . . . . .

And your time is being wasted as well, but that has no value, as far as I'm concerned!

So, the plan is to just do what makes me happy as I will die soon (so, a psychoanalyst told me once - see elsewhere in my ramblings!)

If I buy another bike - and it's not certain that I will, l as I am fine for bikes, it was going to be a Ducati Monster - new of some flavour. My main criteria is lightweight, build quality, and fun. Nothing else is very important. But what is its rivals? Much of the cheaper stuff is just not there on quality. Possibly another KTM Duke (the 790) as KTM are not a million miles away on quality, or a Triumph Trident or Street Triple.

    Anything that I am missing?

  2. ..well this is probably not a contender for you, but Jez and i discussed the pros and cons of an earlier version somewhere on the Forum a while back. a Fantic 700 below. Sparse dealership and some parts relatively expensive and hard to obtain a few years ago.

  4. Interesting. I've never had a Fantic. I'll shall do more research, but thanks. That was exactly the sort of suggestion that I was looking for!

In my moped days, a mate hd a Fantic. In the 50cc club, it was one of the fastest!

  5. the little 2 strokes were fantastic, but didn't go for long if thrashed - they should have included a spare barrel and piston with every bike sold!

  6. ..does look nice..

"Neevesey" did a roadtest on an earlier version than the 500 and was impressed.

  9. Get yourself a scrambler

  10. Nah, they're longer, heavier & taller (admittedly more powerful too) none of which I want from a bike like that.

  11. Nope. Not a clue. HTH

    ;)

  12. It’s like Deja vu ….
Still good to see you are better now.. ✊

  13. What?

  14. street triple 765R .
I've had a couple over the years and now have a '23 model .
It doesn't roast your nuts, randomly cut out, the back brake works and it hasn't used any oil unlike the above last ducati I had .
    Highly recomended

  16. I haven’t found my Scrambler to be that tall, possibly a little higher than my Sportster was. You may be mistaking the Desert Sled for the Scrambler?

Wallesey based so not so far from you or there is a Chesterfield dealer……

  17. I believe if memory serves me it’s an old Husqvarna engine from their time being mishandled by BMW.

To have killed off the Nuda was cruel….

  18. I thought the Desert sled was a Scrambler?

But really I like more and more light, low seat & low volume bikes. Horse size bikes have less and less appeal.
