  1. The seat unit (not the seat) is the best bit, the rest is all a bit yawning hippo.

Following on from the destructive business practices of Nortons previous owner (see: major pension scandal, supply issues... ) the new Norton owner is going to have to do a lot to convince buyers that they are a reputable company, have a solid product, and can supply parts and service for the foreseeable future.
    I like the Norton brand and I wish the new company well. That said, the new bike shown above looks like it was designed a least 10 years ago! And I'm guessing the typical buyer who's interested in purchasing a new Norton is going to be an older guy, so will probably be put off by the relatively low clip ons / riding position.
     
  4. I like the Norton brand too and hope they make a success of it but the styling is very Triumph 20+ years ago.

  5. Think they are doing it in black which looked better, but yeah OTT. It will still sell due to the brand though, even with the poo show of the last owner!

    But when I can buy a V4R and pay for a track season with the change left over then sadly, not tempting me over.
     
  6. Shame the design team didn't take inspiration from the old JPS Nortons! They were cool!

  8. I'm not and have never been a fan of ressurecting a defunct brand just for the name, so I wasn't going to join this conversation but having owned a 1962 650SS for many years until the mid '80s, that is :poop: Andy

  11. That black Norton... I'm getting that uncomfortable feeling that the 'stripes' have been added to make it look a bit like a rotary JPS bike to generate some sales... similar thing with the new Ducati Panigale 916 edition. Am I being unfair?

  14. Resurrecting an old post but long story short - someone I was speaking to at the weekend actually went to look at one of these and is considering it. He was looking at the new Pani V4S then did a look around at 30k bike options and some of these are now sub 30k. I tried to point out the previous version flaws and why has a delivery milage bike dropped 15k in a year but hes still on it sadly.

    He has a shortlist including Aprila, Ducati, MV and now adding this - he is expecting pain when it comes to the dealers/servicing ETC so thats out.

    Has anyone actually bought one of these, any real world experience from anyone?

  16. Yes, I've got one. Had it for around 18 months and I love it. Like most things these days, it isn't without its foibles, but as a splendid thing to own and use I can recommend it. Yes, I could have had a V4R but I wanted something different. Happy to have a chat via PM if you want more info.

    everything that’s wrong with business in this country .. the greed and despicable behaviour of the previous owner… the out of date engineering.. the extortionate prices .. nothing but a feeling of being ripped off!
     
  18. With proper management :upyeah:, sound finances :upyeah: and decent design :innocent: Norton could turn this round.
    They have a V4 that could be useful once fully sorted and some recent racing experience.
    It is a big ask to compete with Ducati, but it may be a niche UK product made in small numbers.
     
  19. I think the Norton thing has surely died for the last Time? TVS made a big song and dance about developing new bikes, new dealer network etc but where is it? How long ago did they take over? 2021?

    the V4SV unfortunately was barely up to date in 2018, and would have been okay, as it was more likely to be a niche ‘special’ product rather than need to lap as fast as a Ducati V4 or R1, but now, in 2024…..
