Bikestop Bought By Infinity

  1. I may be late to the news, but BikeStop has been bought out. What difference do you think Infinity’s ownership makes?

  2. Don't know Bikestop but in the scheme of things, isn't Infinity small potatoes? Andy

  3. I would say infinity is quite large.

    I'll get my coat...

  4. Sportsbike shop opening next to my local Infinity store in Norwich.
    Healthy competition, who knows:eyes:

  5. Infinity have a few shops near us, they bought/took over one in Christchurch a few years and remain a good option for gear. They also have a clearance warehouse just off the M3 at Camberley.

  6. And don’t I remember Sev :joy: I went to a school not far from Lynchford Road and have known the area for nigh on 65 years. I’m aware of their internet presence and the shops in Farnborough and Camberley. I was not aware that they had outlets elsewhere, hence my comment. Andy

  7. ..been to both over the years, didn't they have a place on A3 past Guildford also? if you phone ahead to check for stock then worth it, but never had boots, helmets in right size for me on maaany occasions.

  8. It’s the bike stop online website that has been bought by infinity - the store remains independent thank god

  9. In my opinion both are good firms. I don't know anything about the deal but I could see why BikeStop might want to get out of selling online, as you need buying power and space for one. Exceptional service and product knowledge - which BikeStop have by the bucket load - is far more valued in person than online. I think Infinity do a good job too - someone has to take it to SportsBikeShop, as a monopoly is no-good to anyone. Good luck to both of them.

  12. There a great shop, been a customer of them for many years. My only complaint would be the parking area is on an incline. The staff know people by name and Martin Brown's mothers Red Velvet cake is too die for.

I will say about myself currently not been fiscally stable, I've decided to delay a Rukka kingsley (hope they make a better version with more external pockets) purchase for a barbour sage riding rain jacket.

  13. They did, but that one closed some years ago.

  14. I also went to school near "Shitty City" - at the time their reputation was somewhat deserved. Only experience I had of them recently was about 10 years ago when I bought an Aprilia Tuono V4 APRC ABS from them which turned out, when I went to collect, not to be the ABS model in fact. No problems getting my money back but unimpressed with the inaccuracy.

  15. @uktweaker, there might be a few years between our school days :joy: Which school did you attend, Wavell ? Andy

  16. Yeah - probably wouldn't have overlapped much if any. I was at Salesian - arch enemies of Wavell as I recall ;)

  17. We lived not far from the Squirrel pub at the bottom of Reading Road from 1961 and I walked or cycled past the Salesian just about every day for about 15 years. My mum was the first school secretary when they built the Wavell. Small world and if I remember correctly, the Salesian is now a housing estate. Andy

  18. Small world indeed! I lived in Camberley and cycled in most days. Know the Squirrel fairly well though. Salesian sold off what was the priests lodge and prep school for the housing estate (which also consumed the abattoir!) as well as the school fields I think. But the school is still there - but no longer a boys-only school.

  19. Ah. Not so much between us after all if you remember the abattoir in Peabody Road :joy: My dad used to work in Pages and whilst my memories have faded with time, I do remember the Hasty Tasty that used to be up by the cinema and the Manor. Andy
