Hi Guys, I'm at my wits ends with this now so looking for some inspiration. It's a bit of a long one so bare with me: Basically when I switch the ignition on, there are multiple flashing errors for the ABS, traction control, anti wheelie and all other electronics but I'll start from the beginning. The bike was fine and I started to change the fuel tank and fairings to try it out on track. Everything seemed to go to plan, so issues at all and I took it to Aragon where I used the bike for 1/2 a day before it developed a water leak. I left the bike for a month while I was at work and when I returned, I set about fixing the coolant leak which was from the temperature switch. When I went to start the bike, it kept blowing the fuse for the BBS. I then removed the tank and this is when it started to blow the main 30a fuse and stopped blowing the BBS fuse. The issue with the main fuse blowing was traced to a nipped lambda sensor cable and this was sorted. Again the bike was fine so took it to Seville and on the first lap, the dash lit up like a Christmas tree and all the above errors appeared. Plugged a cheap code reader in which said there was a fault with the wheel speed sensor which I had a spare. Changed the front speed sensor which looked slightly damaged and cleared the faults and the bike was back to normal again. Another 2 laps and the same again - dash lights up like a Christmas tree and the same errors. Plugged the code reader in and this time it's saying wheel sensor again. I managed to repair the original sensor and tried changing the rear, changed the front, swapped them over. Still the same and can't clear the fault. I took the bike to Ducati in Seville who plugged it into the diagnostic kit and they showed me that there are several faults for "BBS - No Communication". Left the bike with them for a week and said I needed to get it back after this as I was going back to the UK until February. A week later they still hadn't looked at it and just said it's a wiring problem. I've checked all the wiring I can and can't see any issues, replaced the lambda sensor that had a slightly damaged cable before but still no joy. So basically I have an error message of BBS no communication on several channels and a load of warnings on the dash with no idea where to go with it now. Is it possible that the BBS unit has been damaged? Anybody have any ideas?
The issue with the main fuse blowing was traced to a nipped lambda sensor cable and this was sorted. This! The lambdas have a 12v power that can cook either cables to the bbs or the bbs itself..if it’s earthed out .
Well don’t ask me how I know of this situation…. Could be. I would also revisit your lambda wires especially the one damaged… really check it again as the 12v really cook the wiring and melt two together then it will throw up all sorts of errors that confuse the situation
I replaced the damaged section as that was from the plug to the lambda itself with a new lambda but I haven't checked the wiring from the plug up to the bike. I'll need to check that as well now.
yeah I found around the plug area .....and further up the loom away from the plug... I guess there would be an electrical way of testing the integrity of each wire. Also if there is still a fault and you change the bbs it may well cook the new bbs..not what you wanted to hear ..
