As per the title really. My nice carbon front guard had a row with a Pheasant. I found a replacement and thought I’d get a head of the game and remove the cracked one. Lots of wriggling about later and unless I’m missing something obvious the wheel needs to come off to remove these? any experience appreciated,
It can be removed with much wriggling, twisting and prising so long as you protect it and the fork legs with gaffer tape. My carbon front mudguard got a small crack in it by a thrown up stone. I took it off and replaced it once repaired without removing the front wheel. I’ve removed it again since then and replaced it with a standard red painted one which is a piece of piss to instal as it flexes more. In my opinion it looks a lot better on the bike than the carbon one!
Don't know if it's anything like the 1260 but getting the calipers off on those to enable wheel removal without scratching the rims can be a challenge... Good luck.
It's really not that difficult removing the front mudguard with the wheel left attached, callipers likewise. It is a bit fiddly, but with care it is possible. I've done it twice now, to fit a fender extender, just take your time and tease it around the various obstructions.
