New Boots

  1. Daytona - Yeah I don’t know why they make them look like something a visiting plumber would wear in a 1980’s porno.

I’ve also got a pair of Klim Outlander boots which are also excellent (and less ugly)

  2. I recently relented and bought a pair of Daytona Arrow Pro Air Goretex boots. Having had an accident last summer in France and braking my fib' near the ankle I decided to upgrade from my somewhat flimsy TCX short boots. The Daytonas aren't quite as flexible and will inevitably be warmer in hot weather and a little less comfortable for walking but they should offer better protection both in terms of accident, should I have another, as well as from the elements. Still a short boot and IMHO not particularly ugly. The TCXs might still get the occasional outing when riding with GF on the pillion though.

I also have a pair of Dainese Torque D1 Out Air Goretex which replaced a long in the tooth predecessor from the same brand that lasted a good 17-18 years and had just started to leak on longer wet rides. Phenomenal boots, both the earlier and the more recent Torque D1s (bought about 6 years ago). Like slippers, comfortable, decent protection (crashed in the older ones and they kept on going with the battle scars. Dainese provided parts for the D1s (plastic insert panels, purely cosmetic), sent completely FoC from Italy and including extras.

  5. I ended up up with the Freeland 2 Goretex by Dainese, great fit, very comfortable to walk in, £246.95, about £100 off
The Sportsmaster were too big in the foot and two tight on the ankle, with no adjustment so it's all about the fit.
Sportsbike Shop got them both in next day to try, there's no way you could buy them online without trying them on, the difference was quite staggering.
Now tripping around the house tring to break them in.

  7. I only wear Daytona's. (Roadstar gtx). Comfort, protection and last many years. They are expansive at over £400. I'm not a fan of short boots as they don't offer enough protection.
