Anyone With A 3d Printer?

Discussion in 'Hypermotard' started by Jackyboyhyper, Dec 24, 2024 at 11:36 AM.

  1. Hello

I'm looking for anyone with a 3d printer that might be able to help me with a little mod

I've put the original handguards back on for fitment issues sans indicators.. as I have the rage 360 fork indicators installed.

Now I have a hole on either side that needs covering. I could spray paint the bulb lens black and reinstall them but not sure that would look that good. Fancied maybe someone being able to 3d print little blanking plates for them.

  2. No, I should of been more specific.

I don't mean the tiny hole, instead I mean the big open part that the lens fits into.

Options are either buy something like the cycra pro bend (expensive) or perhaps respray the lens matt black and re fit them. But I'd need to order new lens as I fear I've binned them...

  3. Personally I’d probably buy these,

  4. Mm I think those only fit the 2016 hypers onwards with the Led indicators. My model is the 2015 with incandescent bulbs.

I'm tempted by the cycra probends but they're spendy.

I'd still like to know if anyone with a 3d printer could help out

    Cheers

  5. you may be better changing the thread title to something more along the lines of ‘Anyone have a 3D printer’. I know one member on here has a printer.

  6. Get someone to wrap the original lens.

  7. I wrapped the indicators on my 1100, just a quick attempt as an experiment! (easiest fix) Did them in red as that is the vinyl that happened to be laying around :) (might change it to black one day if I can be bothered) 20240730_034057094_iOS.jpg 20240802_052505273_iOS.jpg

Thank you duke63 and nadg63 I'll go down this route first

  9. I’m no expert but I suspect the 3d printer needs a model (file) to produce the part from.

  10. Yeah, the title should probably read "Anyone with a 3D scanner and printer"
I very much doubt anyone can model this for 3D printing without a descent scanner.

  11. The OP could search for a model file of the part he needs then ask for 3D-printing help. As above; no model, no parts.

  12. I recently used a firm called Xometry to print some items, not bike related, for me from a model file. If you can get a file for the part maybe try that route. I was pleased with the results. Seek their advice on surface finish maybe.

  13. Ok cheers. tbf I have zero knowledge on 3dprinters. I wouldn't want an exact copy of the lens as they're bulky (sit out quite far from the handguards) and a new lens painted red as above isn't much so going down this route to see what it looks like.

    Cheers for the response

  14. Why not buy a piece of fine mesh cut to fit the hole then use plastic bumper filler and shape it to whatever shape you want (including the back if visible) then spray the whole thing with black bumper spray

  15. At least if you wrap the original lens like I did if need be you just peel it off and you have your lens back :)

  16. This is a great suggestion that I might try if I don't like the red painted lens.

  17. It looks really good on your handguards but they're the original handguards that imo look best. The 821 handguards are duff in comparison which is why I initially looked at cycra pro bend.

I don't have the original indicators as i disliked them and the handguards so much I bought the rage 360 fork indicators.

They are expensive but I really like them

Slight hijack - sorry. Am thinking of fitting these to my Triumph scrambler - are they easy to fit?
    Thanks
