Rock Hard Clutch Lever

  1. Hi All ,

Just wondering has anyone else come across this?.

ive a 2012 base model and one day after a very recent hot spell weather wise I parked the bike up in the garage after a good days riding...

the next day I went to go for a spin I was greeted with an rock hard clutch lever..almost zero movement from it what-so-ever

now after sustained manually pumping it ..it slowly began to free up and I got a full days riding on her with on ill effects and the lever/clutch action felt fine...

but I washed her on Friday and noticed a very stiff lever again...

has this happened anyone else I wonder?

  2. does it make a grating noise ive just had my 2013 clutch slave master cylinder replaced and ive herd quite a few have gone

  3. I had a clutch lever that got harder as the bike got hotter. Dealer sorted this by popping off the slave piston and polishing it with a piece of scotchbrite and it feels much better. Lots about this on the tinterweb.

  4. tell them to get it replaced hammer before it goes and drops you in it ,they know there faulty.thats the part I had done

  5. I bit the bullet before having any problems and fitted an Oberon slave. Same bore diameter so no difference in load but much smoother.

    hope this helps

  6. I've had a slave cylinder come loose and that totally locked the lever, that was an Oberon slave. The bolts had worked loose and one had fallen out causing the slave to twist and lock against the pushrod.

  7. I had read a few things about this online alright but said I would ask here for actual example of it with feedback etc,

was there a re call associated with this does anyone know?

iam going to be bringing her to Ducati for a chain and sprocket and rear tyre soon so that be the ideal time to get it sorted... as I really don't want it to let me down...I don't use it that much but want to be able go when I want to

  8. I've just replaced mine with a CNC racing, 28mm one (Conquest Carbon do a 10% discount for forum members). The problem with the OEM slave is that for some bizarre reason it was designed with a partial cut out around the perimeter which is right by the front sprocket. Over time crap comes off the sprocket into the slave gunking it up:-

It's an easy upgrade to do. Drop the lower left fairing, drain as much fluid as possible from the slave bleed nipple (take the fluid tank cover off). Undo the banjo bolt on the slave and pop the end of the hose into a container to drain the remaining fluid. Undo the three retaining screws and remove the old slave. Fit the new slave, ensuring the the pin on the rod aligns with the slave - I also used locktite blue on the bolts and tighten to the required torque. Refill the fluid tank with fresh fluid and bleed the system. I bled mine at the slave first, then the master cylinder, then the slave again and then the master cylinder again. Refit the fairing and you're done.

Clutch action is now way smoother and lighter as well. Pic of mine fitted:-

  9. nice one mate...good to see theres a decent solution for this...as I presume Ducati are trying to ignore it as much as possible,

I spoke to my nearest Ducati here in northern Ireland ( Millsport) and they say theres a software upgrade outstanding on my bike and iam thinking of giving her the 41t R version sprocket and new front disks and pads so I might ask if they would carry this out for me also as god knows they are charging me enough lol

  10. anyone else suffered this ?
