Hello guys, I happily joined the forum today and as a new owner of a ducati pantah 600 SL, very happy to exchange here with you! I have two questions concerning the: 1.fork: I have red Paioli forks on my Pantah 600 sl and not the usual black ones. I saw in the parts catalogue that there were the normal black forks but also Paioli forks. Someone could confirm it? Which forks were on which year models or what was the Ducati logic there? 2. Fron fairing: I have a rare (or not original) MHR painted front fairing. I read that the MHR design was for the latest (last) 600 sl pantahs. Is my this original paint / design,...or sy knows more about it? Thank you for your ideas and feedbacks, comments! Greetings, Istvan
Hello Istvan, Congratulations on your acquisition. You do not say what year your 600SL is, but I guess 1983 or 1984. Because 1981 - 1982 models had Marzocchi forks, with Paioli fitted later. Why would the factory fit Paiolis? Probably because they were a bit cheaper. Or maybe because Ducati had not paid Marzocchi's bill for the previous batch. After 40 years, previous owners may have repainted parts in colours they chose. But most had black fork sliders back in the day.
Thx Pete for your answer and for the info! Normaly it is a 600 SL from May 1982. Which forks are better and why? Do You think thatcthe fairing color is / could be an original paint for the last years of the 600sl? Do You have experience or could You advice if the 2in1 Conti or the "original" 2in2 Conti has better perf / sound? I will have to decide for one or the other... Thx a lot! I will check the book You proposed! Istvan
