Rebuild Torque Values Wanted For Ducati 175 Ss

Discussion in 'Vintage' started by Sigean, Dec 31, 2024.

  1. Ciou Ducatisti,

I am rebuilding the engine from my 1959 175 Sport, and none of the manuals or literature I have for this model appear to cover the tightening torques for the engine components. Is there a list of torque settings out there in Ducatiland, or could anyone point me towards a source of such information?

Kind regards and happy New Year,

    Sigean

  2. Try contacting either Tony Brancato or Nigel Lacey.

  3. From my experience of 1950's Italian motorcycles, they had comprehensive workshop manuals, but I don't ever recall seeing a torque figure in any of them. I generally use torque figures for standard materials. I have data sheets from an old EMI data manual, but can also be found online. I don't know your expertise, so apologies if I'm saying the obvious, but just be careful if you are torquing bolts into aluminium, many online sources are figures into steel nuts.

As you are down in Devon, there is a guy who runs events aimed at small capacity 1950's Italian motorcycles through Somerset Devon and Cornwall. Great fun and highly recommended. I can put you in touch if like me you don't do facebook.
