900ss Ventura Rack Dimensions

Discussion in 'Supersport (1974-2007)' started by gaz92, Dec 29, 2024.

  1. If anyone has the above system, could you possibly give me the dimension of the pack rack, namely the inside and centre dimensions of the tubes that go into the "L" brackets. Also there seems to be a bracket that joins the 2 L brackets, a picture and dims would be useful. Basically I try to make one up from bits as full system is a bit expensive. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers Gaz

  2. For information from a previous post I made - the recommended rack for the 900 was the same as the one for the 916 Biposto - ventura #14 but it pushed down into the seat a bit, whereas the one for the SPS - ventura #16 sits a bit higher and has a comfortable clearance.
Not Ventura-ing into the garage at this hour but will try to remember to do some measuring for you when I get home from work one day this week.
I don't recall what The joining piece for the L-brackets looks like as it has been on the bike for maybe 20+ years. The 900 is in the "naughty corner" at the minute as it smoked a reg/rec so I don't think I can get at it to photograph that bracket.
The L-brackets and rack are more accessible so should be able to measure and photo them.

No problem thanks, I know people are a bit busy with other things and garage's are bit cold this time of year. Thanks for other info.

  4. Hi Gaz
    Took a few pics tonight.
Its a toasty 12 degrees in the garage.
Let me know if there are any other angles you need.

  5. 98 SPS,
That's great. I bought a rack I think will fit, fingers crossed.
    Cheers Gaz

  6. The racks used to be all the same distance between centres BUT I bought a set of side brackets for my Aprilia Shiver and the centres are 50mm wider!
Ventura racks now come with swivel joints at the bottom for "universal" fitting - Bastids! As you mentioned - they are Expensive so bollocks to spending any more with them, I will be getting a mate to fabricate an adapter.

  7. I found this and believe centre distance should be 314mm.

From the photo that looks about right if you could please confirm that, I can't quite work it out from angle of photo but there are no other dimensions that are close.

    Cheers Gaz

  8. I made it 323mm centres.

  9. Bugger. Ok thanks, will revist this next year.
    Cheers Gaz.

  10. An other option.

  14. Roadtrip cheers,
There was a single L bracket for sale on ebay which I bought (Ref D009) to use as a templet. Your L bracket don't look the same. I am also after pictures of any cross brackets or any other brackets that support the L brackets.

  15. Not sure how professional the result would be.

  16. Grab handle is the same number but think it's the same part for all there racks.
Remembered, my L brackets are what i bought for my 748,

  17. Hi Gaz, this is what I have on my SL/SS.

The vertical piece I made, and I do think I had to adjust the bend of the "L piece" so the rack cleared the mono seat when facing forward.

  18. Royal,
That looks like what I am working towards, albeit with different L brackets thanks for photo. I need to do a vertical bracket that will let me put the standard ducati grab rail back on. I do have a spare in case I need to slightly modify it. Thanks again.

    Cheers Gaz
