Ktm To Leave Motogp In 2026

Discussion in 'Racing & Bike Sport' started by duke63, Jan 2, 2025 at 7:47 PM.

  1. Seems their administrator has confirmed KTM will not renew their MotoGP and Moto2 and 3 contracts in 2026.

I suspect there is a new financial reality about to hit racing.

Watch the race to sign Acosta begin.

  2. Acosta would be a great catch, imagine if Yamaha can get their GP competitive……if they could I’d much prefer he went there than where it seems at the moment he’ll go.

  3. Hmmm... I wonder if 'KTM Racing' will be sold off as a separate entity?
Rumours a while back about Redbull being interested.
It would be such a shame if they left the championship!

  4. This is really bad news for MotoGP!.. 4 competitive bikes gone, and the only manufacturer close to Ducati. There are way too many good riders for the bikes now, so that will spell the end for digi, miller and a few others this year in order to keep the riders like binder and Acosta.

secondarily, there’s no development happening on the KTM for this year, so whatever they had last year will be refined but no new parts. So really the race for this year will be between the KTM riders to see who can finish top KTM, rather than be competing at the front

  5. Very sad to see. Suzuki gone , KTM on the brink of going and no new manufacturers left or likely to step into the void. Honda and Yamaha no longer competitive ,with huge money required to try and catch up. It’s hard not to be doom and gloom about the future of Moto GP in the not too distant future.
At the end of the day we want to see close racing, but with a variety of teams involved. We’ve tongue in cheek joked about the Ducati cup but it seems that this is going to be the future the way things are panning out.

  6. Currently only information about the MotoGP team is emerging but there are 2 teams supported in Moto3 (Ajo and Tech3) and 1 team in Moto2 (Ajo). I haven’t worked out how many Moto3 teams are powered by a KTM engine so KTM’s parent company issues are potentially far reaching. Andy

  7. Miller shouldnt even be on the grid in 2025, absolute passport ride*, 1 podium in 2 years on a factory ktm !

*edit: oh sorry he drinks bubbly out of his boot and calls everyone mate

  9. 4 wins in 11 years with five of those years on the best bike and 2 more on a factory ktm.

Not trying to belittle him but seen riders with better records get a lot more stick.

  10. I don’t get the love in with Binder either fwiw.

  11. Each to their own I guess, Miller seems a favourite amongst the commentators.
I believe that the Binder love in is on account of him seemingly giving 100% at all times on the KTM.

  12. Miller is a media company's best rider but i suspect the majority of the grid is faster than him.

  13. Could this be an opportunity for a Chinese Manufacturer to buy the team and gain access to a huge amount of tech and know how ?, this would include Moto2 and Three ,

  14. The Indian conglomerate Bajaj already own 47.97% of KTM Power Sports AG. My guess, if there is to be any rescue, it will come from them. Andy

  15. Yeh I get he’s a model pro etc (same as most riders on the grid) but the results just aren’t there.
Big year coming up for him I’d imagine especially if Acosta keeps slapping his arse.
