I’m probably going to sell my 1299 FE in the early spring. I’m trying to figure out if I should put the standard Akra FE system back on it (with cats) and remove the Akra race system before I sell it. I doubt the 2nd hand market will see the value of the race system on the bike which if I sold separately I’d likely get a bit more cash. But before I get the system swapped I was hoping someone might help me out on a couple of points. 1. I assume the standard Akra system needs the original map put back on, would Ducati do this? 2. Would the buyer of the race system once removed be able to get a Ducati map, or would they need to get a custom map put on? (I thought the map supplied with the race system could only be applied to one bike but could wrong?)
Not really an answer to your questions but if you do sell the system, could be interested. I would just remap the bike to suit, not overly impressed with my streetfighter ducati map. Your bike would need a standard map somehow if you were refitting the cats.
Is there a market for the standard Akra titanium Final Edition exhaust (see pic)? Im thinking it might be easier to keep the race system on the bike and sell the standard system?
Simple answer is yes. The key question is for how much? Personally I think you could shift the standard FE system fairly easily and get a relatively good price for it. EBay is your friend probably due to reach. A better idea imho than removing the race system.
I thought the same, removing the race system would not be straightforward so probably best to sell it on the bike. As for price for the standard FE system, time to start looking for any that were advertised and see what they are worth as I have no idea. It’s not like it’s really a ‘standard’ system!
Thanks, quite a few little things done to it. But it will back to standard when it goes on the market. So custom fairings, all graphics are painted (no decals) will be up for sale. Rear fairings are carbon with exposed edge like the SL. Wheels will be sold and a few other little bits.
IME, I have been better off selling both exhausts with the bike. I ended up with several standard and race systems in the loft that have been an absolute PITA to get rid of. Everyone wants a bargain and claim that it’s going to cost an arm and a leg to get fitted. Your biggest issue is the transfer of the mapping, the internet would have you believe not all authorised dealers welcome fitting or mapping second hand exhausts. Andy
That was my original plan. Keep the race system on it and keep the standard system with the sale. However, looking at prices of FE’s with the £5k race system, they don’t get any more than bikes with the standard system. So splitting of one the systems from the sale should see me a little bit more cash. When it comes to sale time of the bike, whoever’s buys it might want to do a deal to keep both systems with the bike but I imagine most people won’t want to pay more for a spare system they won’t use. Hence I’ll probably sell the standard Akra after I’ve sold the bike.
Ducati started locking their up maps as early as 2015 so the race system will need a remap on a different bike. Ducati can upload the std map back on to your bike.
Your bike looks awesome, I would be interested in the standard Akra FE system and fairings, if you decide to sell them separately
As has been said, a lovely looking bike and very well balanced exhausts in terms of the overall profile, much nicer than the current V4 Panigale.
