With its stupidly low weight, and although I did not want to get this type of bike, the V2 Panigale looks best for me. I will organise a test ride.
it's not about power and according to Ducati, they are both 179Kg. I just think that the new Monster looks shit and one good reason for me to buy Ducatis was that they looked "right"
The SP The SP version is a couple of Kg lighter than the standard Monster, but all the plastic covering the engine - like Ducati are embarrassed by the look of a V-Twin engine - puts me right off. It just looks shit
Stupidly light weight…. Circa 2-3KG lighter than a Ducati 899 (edit, 899 is 169KG dry) that has 145hp and costs worst case £9500. I’m knocking anyone that wants to go and buy a new bike but don’t pretend you have to because it’s ’that amazing’….
I cannot fault the Monster SP and personally think it looks great but each to their own. For the power the Monster has it is arguably as quick as anything on the roads. I have had V4’s, M1000R etc and they are far too much for what I use my bikes for. The power of the new V2 and the claimed torque should make it perfect for road use. That being said my Monster has been sold despite really liking it and I await my new addition !
and here lies the issue with media now, as they will all say they new V2 is ‘perfect for the road, just the right amount of power’…. Yet if you go and watch 95% of the YouTuber reviews of the Supersport s they say the 115hp is underwhelming and lacks character even on the road. However because it’s new we will all have to endure 2 years of people saying that it’s the best thing ever to be produced. btw I don’t disagree that 120hp is probably a sweet spot, it’s more the way the money for old rope argument keeps getting tossed around that annoys me
Euro5/Euro 6 has killed the Supersport market, and possibly event he 1000 market now with the demise of the R1. The spin by manufacturers to try and tell us a 3 cylinder 80 horsepower bike is better than an r6 was the day I stopped listening!
Yeah if I hadn't upgraded already last year my money would be on a low milage used V2 now rather than the new one. They are awesome bikes (In red, didnt like the new black scheme personally but each to there own)
https://www.instagram.com/reel/DEqBCUxIBRa/?igsh=MXhsbXp3cGpvMzZ1eg== This is hilarious, he’s on the old Panigale V2 after they posted shots of him on the new bike yesterday
or maybe he only had one new one and crashed it! Haha but tbf Ducati probably shouldn’t be reposting bragging about it when it’s the old bike, guess they think footage of him on a Ducati is worth more than whether it’s the new one
