Bsd Blipbox For 899

  1. I’ve just put my name down for the march build of BlipBox systems for the 899. I’m not totally sure it’s worth the money but I do like the idea of a slightly more consistent quickshifter (in theory) and the auto blip downshift which tbh just sort of modernises the bike a little.

does anyone have one fitted to a 1199/899/959? Any comments, views etc? There are a couple of old threads on it but any more recent feedback?

  2. Not sure how much the Blip box is now as I haven’t looked at the prices of them for a few years…
If more then £450, I’d go with a Translogic jobby.
Might be worth having a chat with Giles at hps near Derby.

  3. I have the BlipBox on my 899. It's pretty good at doing what it's supposed to. I found it a little sensitive on stock settings, but it's easily adjusted. The down shift is a "nice to have" IMO. Maybe it's engrained in my brain, but I still blip and clutch in on downshifts most of the time anyhow.
Anything that replaces the stock quickshifter linkage generally improves shift feel as most remove the OEM micro switch style sensor and use pressure sensors.
Translogic don't yet do a blip box as far as I know???? but I do use their quickshifters on a lot of Panigales. They're more reliable and as mentioned, improve the feel of the shift. Straight plug n play.
BlipBox is expensive. If you're not mega fussed about downshifting, then I'd fit a Translogic shifter and stay with the clutch for down changes.

  4. id like the downblipper as even though I don’t use it all the time on the road, my other bike has it and it’s one of those weird things you sort of get used to. My left wrist for some reason is a bit achy and horrible so I like the idea of the reduced clutch use. Primarily it is for comfort and convenience.

I will however probably benefit from it on track, I’m thinking as the bike doesn’t have a slipper clutch, it will help me keep things better controlled into corners as it’s quicker and more accurate than I can be

  5. Hi Nelly. They do, I’ve asked them already. I don’t think they have them in eBay but Giles has them.

  6. OK... I deal with Translogic directly and they're not listing them yet, only the Yamaha units. Be good if they do though :)

  7. I bought one 2nd hand for my 899 and despite being expensive and unnecessary for the road it’s great to have! I haven’t bought many components for the bike that were really required, they’re just shiny and desirable

  8. yeah exactly, I guess in reality I’m not asking people to say whether I need one. More that if I choose to spend my money on it, is it a good product, which most reviews seem to suggest it is

  9. They are a quality product and as @nelly has said, they give a better feel to the gear selector when in use too.

  10. Don’t really need one?
Probably the coolest thing I fitted to my 959!

  11. Yup, use one on my 1199. Never touch the clutch from leaving the pit lane until getting back.
After altering the mapping last year it went a bit Pete Tong so I couldn't use it for a visit to almeria and I really missed it.
All working again now, probably the best thing I have fitted to the bike.

  12. i have one on my 1199, huge improvement of the upshift in comparison to the OEM solution, also the blip function is also better than the 1299 version i feel..
one negative i have is that i havent been able to connect the USB device to the laptop yet.. possible user error though
    ..

  13. It was a bit of a faff on to connect to a PC, got some help from BSD for mine

  14. Blippers are a game changer on track. Brilliant.

  15. Mine too from when I snapped it and I like this idea, keep us updated pls.

  16. they just make a batch a few times a year now, so I’ve put my name down for one in March, just need to save up now as it’s not cheap and I also want to get my rear shock re-valved like I did on my 899 so expensive winter
