916 Showa Front Lower Fork Decals Orientation?

Discussion in '748 / 916 / 996 / 998' started by Martyn Edwards, Jan 23, 2025.

  1. Can anyone enlighten me on the correct orientation of the lower Showa fork decals (mine didn't have any and I want to apply them).

Does the 'Showa' read from the top down or bottom up and is this so on both forks?

  2. Offside (right when sat on bike) - S at the top
Nearside - S at the bottom

  3. That's on a 996

  4. That help......?

  6. I think they were optional - came with the bike for the owner to fit if wanted. At least on the early ones I believe. Mine were in the document pouch that came with my bike. So I guess they could be all over the shop! o_O

  7. top anorak thread for 2025 so far :):upyeah:

viewed from the R/H side is easy, "S" has to be at the top
viewed from the L/H side, "S" has to be at the bottom for me (as already illustrated)

  9. do make sure they are fully "adhered" / fully home - it could be an optical illusion but it looks like "air"* can be seen behind one of them on the above pictures.

*hard to explain, but looks like a white hue can be seen on the edge instead of bronze.

  10. Yes I can see that you might think that but it's the detergent spray I use to initially move them into the correct position this will eventually seep out and the adhesive will work properly
