Ducati 750ss Compression

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by Allan Patterson, Jan 30, 2025.

  1. Hi folks, just returned to Ducati after selling my 748 last year, I have a carb model 750ss which has been badly repaired after breaking belt to horizontal cylinder.
I was looking for advice on what kind of reading in psi I should be getting from compression testing the cylinders.

    Cheers folks

  2. I'd be looking for 140-150 psi for good bores and rings. Less than 120 psi definitely no good. If it improves with a squirt of oil down the bores then that indicates a bore/piston rings problem. If no difference at all then one or more of the valves isn't sealing properly.
