Thought there was already another thread but I couldn’t find it so feel free to merge @mods if it exists Any tips/help on getting home stay/accommodation sorted? I’m there for race week but finding it almost impossible to get a reply from any of the home stayers on the website. (Id rather die than go camping fwiw) TIA
I’ve been home stay a couple of times, just keep sending messages and eventually you’ll find something suitable. I prefer camping as long as it’s not too rainy, a week in a wet tent can sap the will to live! Each time I’ve done home stay the weather has been awesome, so paid for good weather
Camped OK for the first 3 years, year 4 (1998) was WET! Same Homestay every year since. Bikes in the Garage. In Douglas 10 mins walk to the Paddock. Inside the circuit but not far from the Access Road. The only real downside is going down into town for food and maybe a beer or two in the evening means a long walk back up the hill.
Larger numbers are often easier to find rooms for especially early on. I usually team up with a few other families.
98 was my first year...........so bloody wet next few times were fantastic weather but no way I'm camping
I go every year - have done for donkeys. I'm in the same homestay every year. Once you get "in" you can stay forever....unless they move house!
They have the Metzeler Village again this year, after a break of a few years. The tents look to be a higher standard now.
Anyone interested in a house share if I arrange it? I’m thinking two or three of us could get a house for a week for around £4-500 each. Hit me up if you’re interested. I’m completely flexible when it comes to location etc just needs to be on or around race week to align with my dates.
I'm only over for a few days at the back end of race week this year and not taking a bike. Me and a couple if mates are in an homestay near sulby. Mate sorted it via Facebook. I'm over on the bike for the manx, better riding and watching but i can't kick the TT altogether. I'm not averse to camping neither though, last time i camped was at st johns, very good campsite. These days, I don't care if I'm in Douglas or not.
Sorry @Ivor ive had to pull out for the time being due to a change in work circumstances. If anything changes I’ll let you know.
Me and a mate used to Homestay in Peel every year, every year we would meet his dad in ramsay harbour. He would sail his yacht over from Scotchland and kip onboard in the harbour.
