1260 1260 Pikes Peak - New Discs & Pads???

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by MaxDec10, Jan 5, 2025.

  1. Any recommendations for a decent set of front discs & pads to replace original set? OEM for both discs & pads put the cost not far off £1k!

  2. Do you have 5mm spacers between the caliper and fork mount ? Andy

  3. The 'go to' is a set of series Oro Brembo discs with the red brembo SA pads, however I believe the LA is more road focused but I've yet to try them.

Additionally, I just ordered some new titanium spacers and titanium calliper bolts if you fancy a bit of bling whilst swapping the above over.

From factory, the callipers have a 5mm spacer under the calliper as the OEM discs are 330mm. I've been running a set of series Oro 320mm for a while with the spacer above the calliper, but have a new set of Oro 330mm on the way.

  4. I went with Brembo HPK 320mm discs on my V4 Pikes Peak, now paired SBS 841RSTs having previously used Brembo SRs. I like the feel and confidence the set gives me. Andy

  7. Hi ha
hi Iv just put a set of these 320mm disc on my 1260s there’s a slight overhang with the pads is this normal

  8. Slight? 1mm slight or 10mm slight? I assume you put the spacer above the calliper? Else that'll be the problem due to the calliper needing to sit flush against the fork leg mount rather than the spacer between the two.

    Edit: assuming OEM bolt length

  9. Maybe 2/3 mill an yes put the little silver spacer back in should I of taken it out

  10. Yes, you should have removed the 4 spacers. Put them somewhere safe (and where you can remember) should you or a subsequent owner want to go back to 330mm diameter discs. Andy

  12. Thanks Andy il whip them of

  13. Proceed with caution and make sure that the calliper bolts aren't bottoming out with the spacers removed. Likely that's why @freshage suggested putting these above the callipers rather than beneath. The alternative is to buy replacement bolts 5mm shorter. Pro-Bolt should be able to supply if that's the case.

IIRC the blind holes in the fork bottoms were quite deep on my 1260S, gave a bit of leeway. On my Pikes Peak, with Ohlins forks I found it harder to fit my RoadLoc disk lock, needing to find the original set of various spacers to make it work. At some point I'll be going to Pro-Bolt to buy some new bolts of appropriate length, they're only just down the road from me.
