Hi, a little intro from me. After 30+ years of bike ownership I have finally bought my dream bike a lovely stock 1098s. I've been riding mainly aprilia RSV's for the last 10 years I absolutely love big twins but the 1098 was always the target and I finally got there . I've always enjoyed being part of a forum community with whatever machine I'm currently riding so I will look forward to getting involved here, gaining knowledge and spending money on unnecessary shiny bits. Cheers Adam
Thanks, I wanted one that's been ridden but well cared for rather than an ornament. 1k a year every year since new and only 2 owners the 2nd had it 15years.
She's off to a local ducati specialist at the end of the month for the desmo service and belts. I always work on my own bikes but I've never had a ducati so decided to get a trusted ducati garage to do it and I'll do the general maintenance from then on. Im after a couple of parts but I'll start a new thread.
Just had the desmo service done, so ready for warmer weather and really get a feel for the bike as I bought it in the winter only done around 500 miles so far. Initial thoughts are it's very different to the rsv Much faster but also more difficult to get the best out of it. Feels happiest going quick on fast b roads absolutely awful in town not helped by the stalling at low rpm which seems common on the early 1098. Tps set, tbs balanced, valves shimmed to spec and it's worse than before!! Has anyone re mapped to increase the idle by 200rpm?
I went down a tooth on the front sprocket on my previous 1098 and it made it more liveable at low speed. Slightly more tendency to lift the front wheel during hard accel, but felt the same otherwise.
