  1. On that basis we shall expect requests about how to remove the engine to do an oil change :upyeah::D

  2. If it gets that desperate I shall sell the tools and pay someone.

  3. Well what a cock up. God knows what bolt or bolts I was supposed to undo but I don’t mind admitting it beat me, fully lit up there are two Allen headed bolts which seem to attach to an alloy plate, and some rubber thing covering god knows what.

I ended up swopping the pads with the caliper in place, I have a good mechanical background but what I expected to undo didn’t help.

Took the wheel off and cleaned everything I could while I was there.

  4. But at least you got to use your new tools :)

  5. Ive cleaned the caliper and bled rear brake but the discs are squeezed on a bit too tight. Got brake pedal resistance but just seems like it’s not coming back off.

same pads as before and it wasn’t binding before. Can overfilling with brake fluid cause this? Pistons were coming in and out no bother whilst I had it off to clean it so not sure why it’s suddenly started doing this. Thanks in advance.

  6. Is it hard to turn the wheel or just that you can hear it touching as you turn the wheel?

  7. Harder to turn the wheel than it should be/normal.

  8. Simple test will be simply rolling the bike, actioning the rear brake to stop the bike, let off the brake and see if it continues to roll. If so, could just be they need a quick ride to bed them in (whole other topic, but it's a Ducati rear brake, only for show).

  9. Thanks Freshage. I’ll give it a run and see what it’s doing and if they settle down.
I’ve put 660 and heat retardent tubing on so hope that improves it.

  11. Does anyone have a picture of how the disc sits in between the caliper mounting plate?[IMG]
Back wheel is still not quite rotating as freely as normal and I’m unsure if it’s binding a touch on this plate. Not sure how to remedy it.

looks close on the left side but decent gap on the right. Is this normal or should it be bang in the middle?

  13. I can't tell from the pic, but if the binding is worrying you then I'd simply redo the whole job, making sure to double check every step as you put it back together.

  14. I’m worried I’ve slightly bent the brake attachment plate when I was prising it off. Hope not. Other than that the only possible other thing is the large circlip doesn’t sit absolutely flush in the recess. Everything’s tight in so not sure if it’s supposed to sit right in. I’ve now put everything back just need to put the caliper back together.

I can’t seem to place the spring plate properly or securely. Where does it go on the rear caliper please?

  15. Check the other thread on rear calipers, I responded there.

It’s unlikely you bent the caliper mounting plate. The disk does run very very close to the mounting plate but shouldn’t be touching it. It’s hard to tell from your photo if it has clearance or not, we’re talking about a clearance of just 1mm or so.

  16. Thanks so much West Cork Paul. Much appreciated. I’ll check your brake thread.

  17. Could be that one of the pistons is sticking. One coming out before the other. Could be not going back in. Binding since I’ve put in the 660 fluid.

  18. Did you give it a good clean when it was off? And regrease the cleaned pistons?

  19. I didn’t strip it but I cleaned the caliper. The pistons were shiny mint and I çan slide them back in easily without too much pressure so though they were ok. Should both pistons come out at the same time?

Should one grease ones pistons or would it attract even more crud?

One piston was defo coming out after the other.

Thanks so much to everyone for their contributions and help so far. This forum is great.
