I've just received and email saying that my OBD is coming up to a year old and is about to expire and the yearly subscription is $48 before expiry or $80 after. If I don't update it what will happen, will It still work on my bike or not. I only use it for my bike Thanks
It will continue to work, you just won't be able to update the data. As your bike has been out of production for a few years you'll likely not miss out. Obvs update to the latest current version before your subscription ends. OBDStar might add some minor functions in the future. Though if they do it's probably something you can live without. When I got my unit it did almost everything for the 1260 Multistrada but there were strangely still a couple of things missing for the older 1200 DVT 2015-17 model. That was soon put right though.

I think they can add things to the software for your bike if ducati bring new updates out but I think its more for newer models, so if your a independent mechanic its probably a must to have all the latest software and newer models as they come out
If you mean firmware updates for your bike, then no, that's never been a feature. You'll have to go to your Ducati dealer and get plugged into the mothership for that. The OBDStar reads codes and also displays relevant diagnostic information specific to your model. Additionally it can do useful things like activation of OEM accessories that need it, spotlights for example. It can reset the PIN code, reset service indicators, code keys (I think) amongst others. A very useful, if pricey, bit of kit. Untethers you from a franchised dealer.
Gotcha, I looked into one a while back but couldn't justify it. With the bike now climbing up in mileage, maybe it's worth the investment.
I got a brand new 1 on ebay when they gave a 20% discount against the product, £235 instead of £299, think they're above that now but it paid for itself on my 1st annual service that I did myself, along with other things I found fault codes that have been able to clear as were only memorised and not active. I'm sure a stealer would charge £60+ to do that
