I placed an order (and already paid in full) at a Ducati dealer since early this year, and the official delivery date from Ducati is "unknown". So yes, it is officially available but not sure when. Because of that, I am hoping anyone here have a brand new set and can sell it to me right away.
Thanks Paolone, I already contacted them few months ago. They also don't have it. I also contacted Ducati dealers in several countries in Europe, Asia, Australia, even some of Ducati factory top management using LinkedIn. and none have it. My hope now is from some end-user who keep it for long term project that never materialized and decide to sell, and hopefully member of this forum. Thanks again
If by the time my engine is done (hopefully end of May), and I still can't find a new OEM Ducati wiring harness, then I will make race spec wiring.
Apparently one of the main sources for wiring looms for European automotive manufacturers is Ukraine. That could explain the back order situation for a new one.
@998s FE The official position I received directly from Ducati in Italy roughly about a year ago is that the main harness/wiring loom is/are no longer made (or intended to be made again), nor supplied (or intended to be supplied again), by Ducati for the 998 range. As I was in need for one myself, I contacted Lapunta Srl (lapunta.it) in Modena Italy, who were the people who actually made and supplied the original wiring looms to Ducati at the time (as well as to Ducati Corse, MV Agusta, Aprilia, Piaggio, Ferrari, Maserati, Magnetti Marelli). In fact, I came to know of them from the paper sticker that was affixed on my factory installed wiring loom on my 998S. They should be able to custom make, and provide you with, an original in brand new condition (and the diagram that follows below could be useful to jog their memory). On a closing note, I am eagerly waiting to see that monumental 998SFE project of yours completed, dyno'd and weighed up!!
@cookster as per their website's landing page, they are no longer in the business of making or duplicating wiring looms and are contactable only to provide warranty support for looms they made during 2023.
