Discussion in 'Trackdays & Rider Skills' started by Gav101, Oct 8, 2024.

  1. I can't see any bike track days happening this year now all the DUK events are Donny

  2. None expected at Silverstone this year, NL the largest UK TDO have no dates whatsoever and don't expect any based on their discussions.

  3. I haven’t been aware of a falling out between Ducati UK and the BRDC like there was between BSB and the BDRC but clearly the future of motorcycle track days at Silverstone is under threat. Despite all the encouraging words on the Silverstone web site, I suspect any future motorcycle track days will be consigned to the Stowe or National loops. Andy

  4. Yeah ive been watching the site for a while, but they havent even updated the message since end of 2023 - so my hopes of getting round there this year are pretty much now gone sadly. There is no other circuit like it in the UK so will be missed.

Think it might make me get my backside in gear and do the carnet thing next year and visit some like Assen, Spa and Le-Mans again so perhaps there is a silver lining to come out of it - possibly even try and get P.I. or Laguna in

  5. If it’s your bike in the back of a van you are sat in, no Carnet required. Andy

  8. @cookster "rated your post Dislike" :grinning: sorry mate, it's just what I heard. Something to do with crashes + bars + footpegs damaging their sacred surface.

  9. Yeah sorry mate, not against you obviously.
But I think it's a shame we can't hoon around there anymore.

  10. This was the OMG interview with Stuart Pringle (MD Silverstone) I mentioned previously which outlined why bikes were dropped (smallest margin of anything they run) and why it didn't return last year (F1 film), and also a bit on how they are looking into how they can change the format so it does work. There seemed a willingness and interest in making it work (including how to make WSBK/MotoGP a better experience). It is worth a listen if you can put up with Keith!....

  11. I think that separating bikes from cars makes absolute sense to be honest, especially given the performance increases made by cars of late. Surely The Ring was an anomaly allowing both to share the same track previously.

  12. First bit of good news in 2025 so far, lets hope its full GP circuit - I will be booking as many as can as missed it last year

  13. My only hesitation on booking as many as possible is I suspect there is going to be a bit of a price hike! Hopefully DUK are moving one of their days back to Silverstone.

  14. Good point I guess. I’ve never been, but I know lads that have previously just rocked up and done a lap. I guess that’s out the window now.

  15. I think it won’t be the full circuit and it will be (even) fewer numbers , therefore higher cost. I don’t know this obviously but it’s kinda what they have been hinting at.
It might suit me personally as I’m itching to get back on track but in as safe a way as possible given the battering my old body has taken. That is if my head could cope with it (before even considering my wife’s head!).

  16. I’d be happy doing the national circuit also, some big balls corners still, and the track is quite local for me.
