How best to take power to charge a phone on 2022 Sf that has factory heated grips? On my Monster, without heated grips (dammit), I used the SAE connector near the headstock on LHS that would have been for factory heated grips, into a USB connector. A fused connection direct to the battery could easily be fitted on the Sf, as the battery is so accessible (unlike Monstaer), I just wondered what others have done. Cheers
I just attached a little fused USB port directly to the battery and then ran the cable out from there to the handlebars.
I’ve bought the Evotech USB C charging kit for my 2022, still to fit. Likewise, I’ll be looking for a switched live. I’ll get it done this week and will update when I suss it out mate. It comes with a fair old length of cable, a voltage regulator and an inline 5A fuse. Designed for bikes with the battery under the seat no doubt. Also comes with a wee clamp to hold the female USB C connector. I’ll loose the excess inside the LHS of the fairing. my bike has the heated grips so can’t use that, it’s also got a tracker fitted so will discharge all the faster if I forget and leave the phone plugged in. I will look to see if I can use a spare contact from the ignition relay, it’s inside the RHS of the fairing along with the fuel pump relay. To be honest, it’s fine just to connect a constant live direct from the battery but no doubt it will catch me out when I’m in the back of beyond! If it’s a load of chew to get a switched supply I’ll be doing it that way though.
