We have a rescue dog that we got during COVID-19 it was the best thing that happened to us, he has been a great companion and very well-behaved and my partner who has never had a dog herself loves him to bits. I hope you are considering taking this fella on?
Ours was a rescue dog from the dogs home, a little older than I would have wanted so he came pre ‘trained’ soon got him onside and soon became a great friend and companion who trained me into daily walks by the river. What are your thoughts @PerryL ?
When my accident happened, my dog was looked after at a farm somewhere. Then the people got in touch to say that some visitors had fallen in love with her and they would like to have her for keeps. As I could hardly walk when this occurred and she used to have three walks a day, I agreed for her to go to a new home. I think that was the right thing as even now, nearly six years on, there is no way that I could walk a lively dog. It is a struggle just to walk myself! I think that I have been to a couple of open days at this dogs' home and have supported them financially. They deal with strays and when people just cannot cope through illness, or age. Also they get some trade from the Police, where people are put in prison, leaving a dog in the house. Whatever, it's not the dog's fault! Their place is new and really well kept, but they rely on donations to keep going.
Dunno why, coz I fookin hate cats! A story: In our second house, my sister was going away somewhere and asked us to look after her cat for a week or two. We did everything right and kept the cat in for a few days to let the cat get used to the house. Then we started letting him out, but the bastid never came home! So we went out roaming Winterbourne, to find this fooking cat! I found Trigger sitting by a front door, about fifteen doors down. I went a grabbed the cat and bought him home to our lounge. As soon as I put the cat down, I realised that he was too big to be our cat. This Moogie went fooking mad and started climbing the curtains! I opened the front door and got him out, probably mentally scared for life! Now, what were we going yo do? I had to come up with some excuse to tell my sister how we had lost her cat! A day or so later, I happened to open the back door to take out a bin bag and the cat was sitting there! He wandered in, ate the food that I had left out and then found an armchair, snuggled up, and went fast asleep! From then on, he would go out at night, wander off and come back the next morning for breakfast! Fooking cats!
