  1. Hi Guys, I'm new hear and have just recently purchased my first Ducati and really my second bike ever.

I believe the seller is a member here so it may have been seen before by some, its a 1994 916 S.
I've not got as far a being able to ride it yet as its been off the road for some time (14 years) and needs recommissioning of sorts.

Pete at Pro Twins has been handling the essentials like belts, servicing and perishables.
Wheels are down at TPCS with Steve getting refurbished and now I'm turning my attention to tyres.

Do people still run 180/55 profiles on these or 190/50, any insight as to which is preferable for the road would be useful.

    Thanks

    Phill

  8. Welcome. The rear tyre size depends on the width of your rear wheel. If it’s 5.5” best run the 180, if it’s a 6” I would fit a 190/55. Andy

Thanks, mine is a 5.5” so I’ll go with the 180 as suggested.
Just got the wheels back from Steve at TPCS and he’s done a very nice job; couldn’t recommend him enough if anyone has some magnesium wheels.

  11. I've certainly got no plans to sell but ill let you know if/when anything changes.

I'm a bit surprised by just how little information there is online about the 916 S models, most just assume they are standard Strada's. You must have experienced the same?

What I've been told by someone that had one from new is that they are basically the predecessor to the SP model; hence the adjustable levers, Ohlin's rear shock and the tapered rear section.
He told me that he had ordered his bike and there was a supply shortage in the UK at the time so the factory redirected 199 models that were destined for South Africa to meet the demand. I cannot verify this but it would make some sense as the spec is that of an import but they were first registered in the UK with no import history.

I'd love to know if anyone has anymore information about these.

  12. I would contact Bologna you have contact details in the file. Also contact ian falloon. They are the only sources i would trust

  13. Engine internals are also different to Strada right?

  14. I’m not sure, from what I can gather they are but nothing confirmed.
I’ve messaged a guy who has a channel called desmoworx to see if he will be willing to strip down and rebuild it over the winter so I can get the engine cases refinished. Hopefully he will get back to me and when it’s apart we’ll know for sure.
It’s nearly ready for a mot so I’d like to get some use out of it this summer before I do the cosmetic bits.
Went for the 180 Pirelli Rosso 4 tyres based off the recommendation of the guy that owns two tyres
