  1. Early finish so as the sun was shining I thought I’d go for a ride on my new SL. Did 40 miles, I like the bike but it’s like sitting on a plank of wood. I either get the seat gel filled or get a fat arse!

  2. I agree it's not the most comfortable. 150 miles is the most I've done on a summer's day.

  3. i'm rusty, but common mod was to swap rear damper unit with the latter 900 i.e. equivalent but forgotten the exact reason:- could be longer travel/longer spring or more sophisticated damping - research will reveal.

  4. 10mm longer, it sharpens the steering a bit. :upyeah:

  5. that's it, like my guess then - longer. The reason for fitting is to try and preserve people's kidneys though, not because of the geometry! :upyeah:

  6. If there is blood in your urine, it's time to fit a softer spring.

  11. You can buy 25cm square gel inserts about 1cm thick from fleabay. Get or borrow a decent staple gun with 6mm deep staples and have a look on YouTube for installing a DiY gel seat insert in a motorcycle seat. Basically, with a flat headed screwdriver you lift out ¾ of the staples under the seat that hold down the seat cover, leaving the cover still attached at one of the edges as it's easier to staple it all back if you remember that point. Cut out a shape from the foam on the seat using a Stanley knife blade (try to think about how your backside sits on the seat (Coccyx and tops of the thighs are the pressure points for me) make the foam you remove to be the same depth as the gel insert, cut the gel with a pair of scissors to match the shape you just cut out of the seat foam and reattach the seat cover with the staple gun. I did it to my Monster+ recently, it works and it gives me another 45 mins riding time when I combine it with wearing the padded cycling shorts over my underwear, as mentioned earlier in this thread.
