A hard decision to make but I have decided to sell my 1992 Ducati 900SS as I am just not using it as much as I should! I have owned this bike since February 2011. It's a white frame black wheel model. Currently running FCR 41’s, PureTec Lightweight Flywheel, Front suspension set up and re-valve from MCT Suspension, Rear shock bought new - Shock Factory Unit. Exact start upgraded starter leads, Black Widow exhausts with stainless high level link pipes and mounts, MRA Double bubble screen, New Pirelli Angle GT Tyres (less than 200 miles), Carbon front mudguard and carbon rear hugger, Koso Heated grips with integrated controller (looks very neat and they work well), USB socket (with built-in voltage meter) and DIN socket, Fuel tank recently stripped and new filters, hoses fitted, New original unmolested airbox cover. K&N Air Filter Fitted and recently oiled etc, Braided hoses throughout, Decent LED conversion for headlights. Chain and sprockets in great condition. I replaced the front and rear brake disc and pads a few years back but they have not done many miles! Quiet clutch pack mod along with new friction plates when fitted, Anodised clutch plate and basket. Drilled original alloy clutch cover. New belts and pulley bearings fitted March 2023 @ 27,407 miles along with oil, filters and spark plugs. Bike is currently running standard coils and Kokusan ignition units. Good battery, been on a Optilead tender when not riding. Rectifier has been replaced in my ownership through caution rather than need with an Electric World RR51 unit . Bike is fitted with a gel coloured matched single seat unit as shown. Seat pads for unit bought new from Ducati when fitted along with the mounts etc. Prior to my ownership the previous owner suffered the dreaded head studs saga and so the engine was stripped/rebuilt etc with updated studs by St Neots Motorcycles who were a Ducati dealer at the time. I have a detailed service/history file showing this along with other history and even the original selling dealer who was Chris Clarke Motorcycles back in the 1990’s etc. There are a also number of spares and original parts that come with the sale including the following: Original screen Front Mudguard Rear Hugger Seat, seat panels, lock unit etc to convert back to stock. Original exhausts in good condition. CR Half Fairings and brackets Original Carbs & choke cables, throttle cables etc Rear footrest hangers Spare rear light unit and indicator unit Carbon Clutch cover New Brake & Clutch Levers Original Horn & Rectifier Spare Front sprocket Spare Gear change linkage Lightweight alloy racing style footrests Cut down airbox cover Ignitech TCIP4 programable unit, Fastbikegear TPS & mount for the FCR’s. (Fitted but not hooked up) CA Cycle works coils and leads. Bike is in overall original unrestored condition, its not pristine and there are a couple of marks here and there, worst is on the tank which the previous owner did the day I picked it up!! But it’s been touched in and never bothered me to do any more to it. It’s a great bike that just needs to be ridden! Have just put it through an MOT without issue. Price is £6000 firm including all that’s listed above and anything else I have forgotten to list from the parts bin for it Located in Norfolk, Norwich. There's loads of pics on the link following on showing the bike in full and half fairings with a couple of images on here for the overall look and feel of the bike. One of the the questions in life that I just can't make a conclusive decision on is whether a '90s SuperSport looks better with full or half fairing. With this lovely example one could have both! Perfect for the undecided like myself. Anyway, like I say, lovely bike mate, if I were on your shores I'd be very keen. GLWS
They do look great with half fairings. Those bikes got me hooked on Ducatis. I was dreaming of them when I was taking my license. And then came the 916 to seal it. I have enough on my hands with the bikes I have, so can't get yours, wishing you good luck with the sale. Looks like a minter for anybody that will get it.
Hi GD Tidy bike Have you thought about selling the spare parts, one set of fairings etc separately could possibly help with the sale.
Hi Roadtrip, I did think it might be more attractive as a package with all but yes have started thinking that splitting up might be the way to go. Cheers
Asking too much? I thought it was about right given the bits coming with it, thinking of splitting all now as per Roadtrip's comment.
I think the bike looks well priced considering the condition, spec and additional parts. The market has gone to sleep somewhat due to a number of factors, driving prices down for “motivated” sellers, and beaching a number or dealers with stock that now looks expensive, further depressing prices. But good buyers are still there looking for good bikes, and if you want a bike like this, the spec and provenance would be hard to match. If it were mine, I would just lock on a final price, with maybe £250 wiggle room below which I would rather keep it, and just leave it there for sale, until the right buyer comes along.
I have my heart set on a 916 996, but I'm sorely tempted by this, I know very little about the 900ss though. Good luck with sale. I'll have a little look at what there about. Looking for some ducati nostalgia to use every now and then
Took her out today for a run, could not resist, forgot how well a 900SS goes and just how stable and well they handle. Lovely, still for sale though.
Bike is back up for sale for the forthcoming season, I will put 12months MOT on it before its sold, currently SORN. Open to close offers.
