One of the OEM Aux lights has stopped working on my 2015 Multi today. If it’s the unit itself that’s at fault, are they serviceable or are they chuck and replace? I have a multimeter arriving tomorrow, can anyone give me any pointers on working through the troubleshooting for something like this, please?
As far as I'm aware, from looking at mine, they're sealed units. Not sure if you can open them up, might be possible to use a heat gun to heat up the aluminium bodies and then remove the plastic lens bezel. You'll be into completely uncharted territory. Make sure it's not a wiring fault first, maybe what the new multimeter is for...?

There are small connectors each side, probably cable tied to the mounting brackets for each light. To eliminate an upstream break in the 'upstream' wiring split these and check for voltage when the lights are switched on. If you can buy a suitable connector with fly-leads, I think these would work, otherwise you may risk shorting the connection with your meter probes being so close together. Failing that, if both show similar voltage, you'll need to repair or replace the faulty light. Not sure what's inside apart from a reflector and the LEDs, doubt if it's an easy repair. There maybe additional circuitry. Good luck. Let us know how you get on. One of mine has a little condensation inside indicating that it's not properly sealed. It still works but if removing the lens is relatively easy I might, on your experience, consider a pre-emptive repair/re-seal if its not too tricky. Moisture and electrics aren't a good combo in the longer term...
Switch the lamps over. If the fault stays on the same side and the other light doesn’t work, you have a wiring fault. If the good lamp doesn’t work on the other side, you have a failed lamp. As far as I know, they’re sealed.
All sorted now! It turns out the wee connector had somehow managed to pop out just a little bit. Clicked it back in and now working again…result !
one of the LED aux lights on my Multi 1200 developed a fault. I ended up replacing it after a quick look inside :-(
