The ECU that controls the entire DSS system is contained within the big silver tube, under the seat, which is also the motor & pump mechanism for the preload on the rear suspension and unfortunately is not a seperate serviceable item. What’s the issue with your suspension?
On the 2010 there’s a “ Öhlins scu “ on the left rear of the bike which controls the motor in the shock . They may be different now in more modern Ducatis . ( silver tube on modern variants, this one is gold ) My software diagnosis is saying there’s a preload sensor fault. So yes it may well be a fault within the shock but many people have had the ecu replaced which cures it . The bike does not calibrate the suspension upon battery replacement
Sorry, wasn’t thinking of the Ohlins equipped bike, had the non-Ohlins DSS system in mind. Does your diagnostic software indicate any other faults or is it just pointing the finger at the preload sensor.
No I’ve got two diagnostic machines here, both say sensor fault and unable to calibrate. the motor does work in the shock which leads me believe that replacing the ecu is a good start point
@Tjn Not entirely sure where it is but pretty sure I have an OE SCU that I’m happy to look out if it will help the process of elimination. Andy
@Tjn, had an initial search without much success but will continue to see if I can find the secret place where I hid it Andy
There are two versions of the Ohlins mecatronic SCU . One is the standard factory version, and the other is the Ohlins SCU upgraded unit that was only sold through Ohlins dealers.
Is the spring rate original? If the spring rate is different then the pre-load calibration gets kicked out. I had this on mine while trying to upgrade the rear shock.the SCU is very particular with spring rates
Thanks Peter . It’s all stock . I was hoping someone would have a spare ecu to rule out before replacing shock . Thank you
I’m still looking but running out of places to look. I hope my memory hasn’tvlet me down ……. again Andy
Just so others know, I’ve let Tim know I’ve found my original SCU which I’ll lend him to eliminate the SCU as the fault. Andy
Nope. The suspension ECU is a discrete module which can be swapped for the Ohlins unit in about 10 minutes.
Yes Paul was mixing the wrong bike , 2010-12 models have a separate module for the suspension control. I’m hoping that the shock on mine is ok , however knowing my luck it’s not . Shame it can’t be repaired as it’s only the preload aspect that could be faulty as rest of shock is sound.
