996 Headers Help

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by Olly snow, Mar 7, 2025.

  1. Had the 996 out this week couple of rides to work in the sun, started popping and banging on the overrun.

and it’s cracked a the front cylinder header.

now I’m pretty sure they are all the same regardless of exhaust size, 50mm goes over the top like mine and 45 inside… can someone please confirm?

  2. The 45mm pipe certainly goes inside the header but I'm not sure that a true 50mm header would have the pipe on the outside? I may be wrong but that doesn't looks right to me.

As for the crack, looks an easy repair rather than replace.

  3. That looks like a 45mm header with a 50 mm downpipe stuck over the outside.

  4. Don’t suppose anyone has an image of a true 50mm header at all? This is as the exhaust was when purchased annoyingly

  5. Think mine is a 50mm

  6. That's what it should like. 45mm or 50mm

  8. Helps with splitting them when the need arises ;)

  9. The header nuts are nicely oiled for sure !!

  10. 50mm ones proving to be impossible to find, have bought a second set of 45mm ones, and considering making up my own set of 50mm ones!

Thanks for all the help and the images chaps
